I woke up to an empty bed. That would be the fourth week in a row. I grabbed my phone and checked my period tracker. Yesterday was supposed to be the first day. The last one I had was before Wright came home for a few days and that author wanted me on her cover. Meaning I had to be heavily pregnant before then. I had a sneaking feeling that I was. Every night we had together we did it.
I then wanted to kill the suspicion and see if I was. Right after Wright left for his next job I went out and bought multiple boxes. Now's the time to use them. I opened one box seeing two-three tests inside. I hesitated before doing it. I then set a timer on my phone for the time to wait. Once it went off I looked at each. Then took a picture sending it to my husband.
Right away he called. "Please tell me those aren't fake." He said. "I would have to pay good money for a fake positive pregnancy test." I told him. "That's incredible! I wish I could have been there." He said. "I know babe. But I'll see you in a few weeks." I told him leaning against the wall. "I know. I just don't feel like I'm there for you." He said. "You promised me that you'd be here once I hit four months. I expected you to be gone for the first trimester and some of the second. When you said you'd be there for the last five months, that's what made me want to do it even more." I said.
"So I'll see you when I get home?" He asked. "I'll see you when you get home." I said. "Love you baby." "Love you too." I said before hanging up. I slid to the floor knowing I'll be alone for a few more weeks. I then stood up and made myself something to eat.
I sat in the recliner eating some crackers for breakfast. So far I've only just gagged once this morning and threw up once this week. I couldn't wait for Wright to be home from his last job. He should be any day now. I looked down at my still flat stomach. I had told Wright I had an ultrasound set up for today I just hope he remembered. When it was fifteen minutes till I got my boots on and went out to my truck.Just as I got in that yellow jeep pulled in. He jumped out and got in with me. "Cutting it kind of close aren't you?" I asked. "I tried to get through traffic. Luckily you didn't leave two minutes earlier." He said buckling up while I backed out. "How's my beautiful wife?" He asked. "Doing fine." I answered. "Anything usual?" He asked. I knew he was trying to see if I had the side effects of pregnancy yet.
"Morning sickness nausea." I said. "Meaning?" "I could either throw up my breakfast or gag at anything I eat, drink, or smell." I told him. He nodded as I pulled onto the highway heading back towards the hospital region. Once there I shut the engine off and got out him right behind me. He put his arm around my waist before pressing me carefully against the truck. He kissed me holding me in place.
I responded wanting him to just kiss me. "I missed you baby." He said. "I missed you too." I said. His hand brushed my flat belly. "I can't wait until it becomes noticeable." He said. He kissed me again before taking my hand in his. He opened the door for me. Then sat down waiting for me. As soon as I check in it was time for me to go back.
Wright followed me back my hand in his larger one. I could tell he was nervous. I squeezed his hand and looked back at him. He then wrapped his right arm around me. I slipped my right hand into his as we neared a scale. "Alright first thing is to get your weight." The nurse said. I stepped onto the scale. After my weight was taken my height was next.
Once all of that was done I was led to the ultrasound room. I sat down on the bed as the nurse took my vitals. "Alright so the first thing we're going to do is see if there's a heartbeat." She said. I laid back on the bed and lifted my shirt just enough for her to put the gel and something to my belly. Wright took my hand in his. I was trying not to be nervous. After she clicked a few keys a sound like a train filled the room.
"That would be your baby's heartbeat. Strong already." She said. I took a deep breath squeezing Wright's hand. He gently squeezed back before kissing my temple. She then put the image of our baby up on the screen. She even told us how big it was. I looked over at Wright. He looked back at me. Knowing it was there is different from seeing it was there. Seeing and hearing the heartbeat made me calm.
The doctor came in to see it before we got to leave. Wright didn't let me pay for the ultrasound. It being his treat. We then stopped by K-Bob's he told me to wait in the truck for a second. He then came out with a to go bag and got in. "Since my baby has nausea I ordered it to go to be safe." He said before kissing me. The smell made me partially gag.
Once home we sat down and ate it. Halfway through my plate I jumped up and ran to the nearest bathroom. I puked up my lunch. Two hands brought my hair back before one rubbed my back. Once I was just dry heaving I knew bar be que didn't settle well with my stomach. He wiped my mouth before helping me stand. He put me in his lap just wanting to hold me.
I cuddled up to his side enjoying his presence.
