Dan's POV
Alicia and her family were quite thrilled that she was able to go to Canada, since she had never set her foot down on the continent. I couldn't tell how long we were to stay in Vancouver, so I told the teen to pack a full luggage of clothing. The only problem was: how hot was it over there in the summer? I had only gone to America a few times when I was younger, but the weather conditions over there were different than Canada's. Looking at my weather app, I packed a couple shorts, and mostly jeans, along with t-shirts.
It was just hours before our flight, and at this point I felt so grateful that I was able to obtain three last minute tickets for an Air Canada flight to Vancouver. Charlie on the other hand, he was slightly nervous, since he had never put his foot on North American soil either. Luckily the flight was only nine hours long, so Alicia wouldn't have to impatiently listen to her music for a long time. The only thing that bothered me was the time zone; Vancouver was eight hours behind London, so it would be interesting to see how my body and mind would react to the large difference in time.
"Alright mum, I gotta go and pick up my friends," I said into my phone as I raced around my apartment, throwing together some last minute shit, like putting the files into my backpack, and gathering my hygiene supplies.
"Okay, but be careful, and I hope you have fun during your little trip!" she laughed from the other end.
"Bye!"
"Bye, Daniel!"
'Right, that seems to be everything,' I let out a huff of exhaustion, feeling satisfied of my packing.
BUZZ!
BUZZ!
I checked my phone, seeing my two colleagues' confirmation messages that they were ready to go. Kyle was going to pick me up first with the morgue van, then Charlie, and Alicia last, so that I wouldn't have to worry about my car being stuck in the airport's parking lot for days. I checked to make sure I had everything, then left my apartment, locking the door behind me. 'Oh good, he came on time,' a sigh of relief left my lips as I spotted the white van waiting in the loading zone. My feet ran, swiftly carrying me out of the building, the clicks and clacks of my luggage's wheels moving against the cement outside the doors.
"You're always in a rush!" Kyle laughed as he placed my luggage into the back of the van.
"Did you cl-"
"Yes. Morgan and I scrubbed the back with soap and water, so don't worry about blood or human fluids touching your precious bags," he rolled his eyes, being one step ahead.
"Good, wouldn't want people staring at a blood soaked bag," my mouth let out a chuckle as I hopped into the front passenger seat.
The car ride to Charlie's was anything but quiet. From the topic of vampires to cats to many other of Kyle's interests, I couldn't get a single break, nor have time to enjoy the radio. 'If he wants to talk about this stuff, why doesn't he talk to Janna?' I rolled my eyes with annoyance as the chatter box continued to go on about how it was a struggle to perform autopsies on a dismembered body that was stuck inside two blocks of concrete. Although, I didn't get why he was complaining his ass off, since he had done worse autopsies than this one.
"So, did you manage to finish it?" I piped in when he made a small break in his rant.
"No...we still have two thirds of it left, and Morgan and I haven't even found the head yet," he groaned as we pulled into the loading zone of Charlie's apartment building, seeing the rookie waiting patiently for Kyle to stop the car.
