Dan's POV
"Right...any new theories or ideas?" I looked across from my spot of the cafe booth.
"Not really," Charlie, Alicia, Crystal, and Riki mumbled in unison.
It's been four days since Charlie and Alicia found that note in the police station, and I still couldn't get over that fucking riddle, and the words that Hannah had chosen to use for her weird puzzle. 'Has eyes like us humans...' I bit at my pencil, tapping my foot under the table as I attempted to find a meaning to whatever the fuck that meant. 'Used for fast food and lazy weekends. Hmm...food.' I determined. It was most likely something that was edible, but that only problem was that there were loads of foods that were brown, not to mention hand sized. And my mates weren't making much progress either compared to me. So here we were, sitting at a table in a café, trying to think of theories to answer this goddamn riddle.
"Oh!" Charlie slammed down his notebook, with a huge smile plastered to his face.
"What?!" Alicia and I stared at my partner.
"Kiwis!!!" our colleague exclaimed.
"Huh?"
"Kiwis! They're brown, and don't their centers look like eyes?" he scribbled it down.
"But is Idaho even known for kiwis?" Crystal cocked an eyebrow.
"The answer to that question, sir, is no," a waitress stopped by our table. "In fact, what we're known for, are potatoes," she smiled, walking away to the back.
"Wait...potatoes..." Alicia mumbled, scribbling down random words. "Hey! Potatoes have 'eyes', right?"
"Oh yeah..." I realized, feeling my own eyes light up. "And they're brown...and can be held in my hand, used for French fries when I don't want to cook food..."
"Now that I think about it...Idaho is definitely known for its own potatoes..." Riki sipped her latte. "But what about the part about bears and 'C'?"
"Right..." I slumped down into the seat. "Never took that into factor."
"Maybe Hannah's referring to a famous state or city that starts with the letter 'C'?" Charlie asked.
"What's known for bears? California?" Crystal wrote down on her laptop.
"Hmm...it could be," I nodded. "After all, their state flag has a bear on it."
"But isn't it plural? Maybe it's referring to a bunch of people?" Alicia considered.
"Does it really matter?" Riki groaned, tilting her head back. "Guys!"
"What?!" I glared at the F. B. I. Agent.
"Look up!"
POTATOES CAN BE USED FOR THE MOST CANADIAN DISH.
"What the fuck?" Charlie and Alicia exchanged confused glances.
"The most Canadian dish? What the fuck is that supposed to mean?" we all looked at Crystal.
"What the hell are you guys looking at me for?" she glared back at us.
"Well, you're the only Canadian here, so you'd be the one who would know what it is," I shrugged, earning myself the gift of my friend's cold hearted slap to the arm.
