CHAPTER 14
Intercession
-Luke-
I got scared when JC swore to her ranking in her game that if we fail, she will kill us. She never puts her rank number two out of tens of thousands of players on the line except when she is very confident that she's right about her perception of the following situation. This drove me and Erin to plan carefully and point out the possible glitches, so when we wrapped up, we made three plans- each plan having no plotholes and mistakes. We considered Margaret's interference, among others.
I do wish this works out.

-Kyousuke-
After dismissal, I was asked by Luke to go to the rooftop. "Don't tell me you're locking me up with JC up there again."
He smiled. "It's not locking up, it's called getting the two of you together." He raised a finger. "Look at how the sky is right now. Right down it's still sunset, high up, it's night. But look in the middle. See how they verge together to form a pink sky? It's pink skies and orange lights, man, don't ruin it. JC may probably be up there, waiting. Don't ruin the beauty of the afternoon for her, okay?"
"I'm not gonna ruin anything, plus why is she waiting for me?"
He sighed. "I knew it. You're too dense to even know why. She's waiting, because YOLO." He gave me a push. "Now go."
I returned his sigh and proceeded upstairs. What are they planning, anyway?
High up in rooftop, I realized the true beauty of pink skies and orange lights up close. The glass on the entrance to the roof reflected the orange and gold hues of both lights and clouds.
But when I heard something shuffle behind me, I turned around- just to see the only person able to be on par with the beauty around me.
JC stared at me differently, the sharp blades that came with her stare weren't there. Her icy aura wasn't there, either. All that was left was a beautiful, fragile and small girl staring right through me. 'Where did that icy composure go? Was she tricked out of it by Luke and Erin? Or by Miss Nina?' I thought. 'Or even threatened?'
"Kyousuke," she began. Where was that monotonous and cold voice? "What do you think of me?" she asked. Okay, so her direct self didn't disappear. But she's not in her Grumpy Cat mode, either. Her voice was soft and she was fidgeting.
"Y-you?" Okay, not good, you're stuttering. "You're really mean, selfish, cold, distant, frank and blunt. You have trust issues, too. But then I realized there was much more to your cold wall than what met my eyes. You're such a softie when you want to be, you're sweet, you're kind, you're fluffy and you know when to be cold and when to be warm. You're beautiful, too."
She looked up. I can't really express what I feel when she's that far away from me. I took a few steps towards her. "T-that's rich, coming from someone as dense as you..."
"So there's no more 'stupid dog' in that, huh, Grumpy Cat?"
"Why, you want me to put one there?"
I smiled and patted her head. For some reason, she's grown in on me that I'm finding it hard to not think of her. "And, I feel I'm really lucky to be one of the people you've opened up to despite you having trust issues. I'm glad for that."
"Raisin cookies that look like chocolate chip cookies are the main reason why I have trust issues..." she muttered. I chuckled at her excuse for a reason. "What made you trust me enough to talk to me back when we met at the dorms?"
"Want to know the answer? It's the same as knowing when to apologize when you still have your pride getting on you. There's no real reason behind it, it remains anonymous. I guess I just fell for that Asian trap of yours. You were so nice, so kind even if I treated you badly."
