CHAPTER 25
Annotation
-Kyousuke-
I was walking to school with Erin when I saw a big crowd by the entrance. It piqued my curiosity, so I scooted closer to look. Turns out the main attraction was JC, and most of the spectators were men. Some of her hair was brought up into a little ponytail at the side of her head, and her black socks, which usually goes past her skirt, was brought down, showing her thighs a little. She was unusually smiling and greeting everyone. Erin came up to me and said, "Haven't you heard the rumors?"
"Which?"
"About her and Luke being an item."
"What?! When?! Where?! Why?! How?!"
"Stop asking me wh- questions. It's true. Luke's mother showed their pictures to the early students. Told them it was possible since JC isn't legally adopted."
"Both of them are--"
"Nah, anything is possible with Mrs. Voix."
"I didn't even know," I muttered inaudibly. Now she's together with Luke. Just how far can this fight get?
"Earth to Kyousuke!" Erin said, waving her hand in front of my eyes. "Hey!" I brushed her hand away. "An item, huh."
"Yep."
I took one last look at JC before turning to leave.
"Okay, pass your papers. No cheating, copying or coaching, got it?" Miss Nina said while the students passed the tests backward. I looked at JC, who was staring out of the window. Somehow my eyes drifted down to her legs-- wait, shaddup Kyousuke! What are you thinking about?! Argh! Why does she have to lower her socks, anyway?!
We were given one hour to finish the exam, but JC finished it in just ten minutes. Who the hell finishes a one hundred-item exam in a few minutes?! Nevertheless my eyes started drifting down again to her-- damn it, Kyousuke! Concentrate on the exam!
The next exam was Math, and yet she finished it faster than earlier. Genius.
I scribbled something on my scratch paper and slid it to the corner of my table, catching her attention. 'Is it true?'
She took a spare piece of paper and wrote down a reply. 'What is?'
'Your relationship.'
'Of course it is.'
I tried my best to stifle the pain in my chest and wrote down a new topic. 'Why did you have to lower your socks?'
'Luke asked me to :)'
That's weird. JC doesn't use emoticons just like that. 'And you followed. Everybody's been eyeing you up because of that, especially the guys.'
'It's meant for his eyes, not theirs.'
She cut off the conversation by crumpling the paper and throwing it to the wastebasket beside her. She looked past me and studied Luke. He still wasn't finished with his exam, but he was clearly at ease with it. "Miss Nina," she called, catching everybody's attention. "May I go out?" Her voice was lighthearted and sweet, very much unlike the JC I knew.
Miss Nina nodded and she slid out of her chair gracefully, showing me her thighs once more. I tried my best to turn away, but my eyes simply followed her until she disappeared out of the door. Argh, damn it. I shouldn't be looking at her that way!
She returned after a few minutes, and my eyes followed her still. Somehow, JC's erotic appeal had went through the roof. Almost all the guys in class were staring at her so much that I feared she would melt. Add the way she moves her body. There are two languages spoken by a woman's body each time they walk: one, simply walking, and two: they're trying to get the eyes of the man before them. She was purposely doing the second one.
One of the things I noticed, too, that Luke was the only one who didn't look at her. He was simply staring down at his test paper in an eased manner, as if he wasn't getting affected by JC's charm. If he's into her, then he would've eyed her up more than all of us did. There was something unusual between the two of them, as if there wasn't any sort of affection. Then what was that at the park? What was that about her sudden change of style?
The bell rang, and we all passed our papers forward. I saw JC skip through the cr
