Not really sure about this...
Chapter 26: The Zoo:
"Wasn't expecting this," Alex said as he starred at the lion.
Yes, we were at the zoo.
"Haven't been here since a long time," I smiled at him as we continued walking around the cages.
"So pretty girl, are you sure you didn't just bring me here so I could be fed to the lion?" he asked, jokingly.
"Oh shut up, I'd be lucky if it got anywhere near you," I rolled my eyes at him, trying to calm my heart.
"Lucky, huh? Want to get rid of me that fast?" he teased.
"Yes, you're annoying," I lied.
"Ha-ha, we both know I'm not," he rolled his eyes at me.
"Anyway, how is Ryan?" I asked.
"Why are you asking about my best friend?" he bumped his hip with mine.
"Just asking," I rolled my eyes
"He's fine, being he's annoying s-," he started to say but stopped as his eyes landed on something, rather someone.
When he didn't continue, I turned around to see what caught his attention and saw a red haired girl, then I moved my eyes back to Alex, "You okay?"
"Crap," was all he said as he continued to stare at the girl.
Who on earth is she, and why is he staring like that at her?
"Alex," I called him.
"Yeah?" he focused his attention back on me.
"Who's that, and what's wrong?" I asked, a bit worried.
"That's my ex-girlfriend, the one who came to the company a while ago," he explained.
"And where's the problem?" I didn’t really understand Alex's reaction to seeing her.
"Well, you know how she kept telling me that the break up was a mistake and all, and she hasn't really been staying away like I hoped she would, so..." he explained.
Quickly thinking of a way to help Alex, I held his hand and inter wined our fingers, just as he muttered, "She's coming over here."
Just as he finished his sentence, the girl appeared in front of us, big smile on her face, "Hey Alex."
"Hello Syd," Alex greeted her with much less enthusiasm.
"Who's this?" she looked at me.
"I'm Summer, his girlfriend," I smiled sweetly at her.
I'm pretty sure that Alex's trying not to choke on air while 'Syd' is trying to stay as calm as ever can.
Immediately, her whole demeanor changed, she was no longer calm and happy, just nervous and disappointed, "Nice to meet you," she faked happiness, "But I've got to go, bye Alex, Summer."
When she wasn't in hearing range, Alex slowly looked at me, "You almost gave the poor girl a heart attack."
"Well, at least she'll leave you alone hopefully now," I chuckled.
"Hopefully," he said as we both ignored her stares and continued making our way through the cages.
"I don't really get what she wants, to be honest," I told Alex.
"Me neither," he shook his head.
"Look at that little lion, it's so cute," I gushed about the small lion.
Alex only smiled at me, seemed Syd had a bigger effect on him than I had thought, "Alex, are you okay?"
"Yeah, it's just that she keeps looking at us and it bothers me, I know I loved her and all, but she needs to move on, it bothers me to know that she's still hanging into what we had," he pulled me closer as he faked a smile and pointed at a random animal.
And true to his words, Syd was watching us. I kind of felt bad for her, because I felt like she really still loved him, and if Alex still loved her 1% I would have immediately backed off, but that wasn't the case, which is why I was dead set on helping him to get her off his back.
"Why don't you talk to her? Do what I did with Seb."
"I already did, but no result... Anyway, did you ever talk with Seb about the lying thing?"
"No, never saw him after it, besides, he seemed to leave me alone, so I'm fine."
"You're not really fine though, are you?"
"Well, it kind of hurts a bit, but it's long gone," I shrugged, "Why does she keep looking at us?" I was really annoyed with her.
"I don't know, maybe she didn't quite believe us, or maybe she doesn't want to believe us," he answered.
"How much do you want her to get off your back?"
"As much as I love Winnie The Pooh," he replied, smiling slighty.
"That's a lot, isn't it?" I poked my tongue out at him as I stood in front of him.
He said something to me but I didn't really pay attention as I stared into his eyes, getting lost in the blue ocean, and then my gaze dropped to his lips, but I gladly snapped out of it before he noticed. What am I doing? I should stop.
"Crap, she's coming here again," he groaned.
Maybe it was because of my fast-beating heart, or my eyes that couldn't help but stare at him, maybe because I wanted to, maybe I was just trying to help, either way, before I could understand what was happening, I put my hand on his neck, brought my lips closer to his and then kissed him.
Or maybe, just maybe, I was starting to feel something different about him.
