I wake up in a bright room. "Am I dead?" I ask. "Why is she awake?" someone asks with worry. "Her system must not be accepting the anesthesia. Nothing we can do. Just give me the I.V." "I.V.?!" I ask, sitting up. "Calm down, Miss Adams. You're at the hospital." I look around the room to see Cherry and Cara. Cara is getting blood taken from her. Then I look at the nurses. One has a clear I.V. and the other has one filled with blood. They put one in each of my wrists. Then they get two more I.V.s and stick them in my upper arm, me squirming and whining the whole time. "Why four I.V.s?" I ask. The nurse looks at me. "Blood, antibiotic, fluids, and this is for internal bleeding." she says, pointing at each one as she names it. I sigh and lay back down in the bed.
"I have the best luck, don't I?" The nurses leave the room. "What time is it?" Cara asks. "Four forty two." Cherry asks her. "I have to get back. I can't take off tomorrow. I'm sorry Phoebe." "It's cool, dude. See ya." Cara gives me a quick hug before leaving. "Just us." I say, weakly smiling at Cherry. "Yeah, and?" "You saved me, right?" "Yeah. What happened?" "I woke up at like three, feeling awful and saw what I now believe is blood on my sheets. I went to the bathroom to throw up, then I noticed my stomach. After that I passed out. I can't believe you saved me." She nods. "Well..." "Well what?" "Jack did. If it weren't for him restitching your wound, you'd be dead." I start to remember.
"I'm tired." She nods again. I close my eyes and fall asleep. "When can she go home?" "We think it'd be best if she stayed for another few days." I hear in my sleep. Days go by, me just sleeping through them. Until a week passes. "She can go home now. But be careful. Not too much movement. She should sit all day for awhile. And she needs antibiotics every day for another week." "I got it." Cherry says, taking a paper with instructions. She takes me back home in a wheelchair. "Well this sucks." I mumble. "It's dark out." "Yeah, that's because it's night." "What time is it?" I ask. Cherry checks her watch. "Almost nine." 'Great, I get to go home and sleep.' I sarcastically think.
When we get to my dorm, Cherry helps me into my bed. "You can go." "Go? Where? You're severally injured, why would I go?" "I meant to the living room." "Oh. Yell if you need anything." I hear Cherry whispering in the hallway. Then Jack walks into my room. "So much for staying away." I mumble. He sits on the edge of my bed. "They did this." "Why can't you just like not be part of them?" I ask. "Don't really have a choice." "Thanks...for saving my life." He nods. "I know it hurt. I'm just glad I could still concentrate with you screaming like that." I touch his arm. "Can you stay?" He looks at me. "I don't think I-" "Please." He sighs. "Alright." He lays on my bed, face to face with me. He stares at me, playing with my hair. I soon fall asleep.
