We wait, for what feels like hours. Then, finally, I hear a door open and a bunch of people talking. I see Jack walk in. With Cherry. And Toby. Jack immediately looks at me. Jane looks at Jeff and nods. Then, Jeff grabs Jack as Jane walks up to me, knife in hand. "This is what happens when you break the rules." she says, touching the blade to my face. Cherry and Toby try to stop her, but they too are grabbed. "Come on, let's make this fun." Jane says, cutting the tape on my hands and feet. She pushes me to the floor right in front of Jack. "This is what you knew would happen." she says, making me look at him.
He struggles to break free. "Be glad we're not making you do it." she mutters. "I wouldn't. Ever." "I'm sure with a little hunger, you'd do it in the blink of an eye. You already tried to once." He growls at her. "Why?" he asks, slightly giving up. "We cannot be in contact of mortals. It's the rules." "Why though?" She sighs, loosening her grip on me. "We kill people. We can't be soft. We can't be their friends, their family, their lovers." Jack looks down. "It's no fair!" Jane sighs again. "I didn't pick to be like this! I was with her before this. It just happened and now i'm all of a sudden expected to give up my entire life? Without a fight too." "It would never work out. Slender would never approve." "Why can't I just not be a part of this? Just leave. Take her and live a life somewhere else."
"We can talk to Slender about it. But i'm telling you, he's not gonna let her live." "Toby's on my side. And if you guys were too, we'd have a chance." he says, hope in his eyes. "We're indifferent, Eyeless Jack. That's all we'll give you." They let us go. "Come on." Jane mutters, walking to the door. They all leave, except Cherry. She walks over to me. "Hey." "What's up?" she awkwardly asks. "Well I might be murdered real soon. In front of my boyfriend. Ya know, but other than that, it's all good." I say with slight sarcasm. "How long do ya think this'll take?" "Well it only takes a few seconds to say no. And a negotiation would mean waiting." "It's already been a few seconds."
