Chapter Five

Irmina's POV

His hand cupped my cheek, his gaze averted. I felt my ears burn. His eyes met mine and he leaned closer. I closed my eyes tight.

This wasn't like him at all.

His lips touched my cheek, and I opened my eyes. A wave of relief and joy went through my body.

"Don't get any thoughts." He said, his cheeks tinted pink. I smiled at him.

"Mina." I heard. "Irmina." I felt a tap on my forehead.

I thought I was awake already...

I opened my eyes, revealing a body which I was hugging tightly.

"We're gonna miss breakfast." I looked up and met Armin's kind eyes. The way he said 'breakfast' felt like monsters never existed. It felt like there was nothing to be afraid of. Is it because he phrased it 'breakfast' instead of 'mess hall?' Probably.

I released his body and I pushed myself up from the bottom bunk, Armin getting off before me. Everyone else seemed to have left to eat already. I hope they haven't thought me and Armin did anything. He held out his hand for me to grab, even though I didn't need any help getting up. But I took his kind gesture and let him pull me up.

We walked into mess hall together, Eren noticing our presence.

"Finally! Armin where were you?" Eren shouted as we walked toward the table.

"I slept with Irmina." He replied as we both sat down.

"What?!" Eren looked at me and leaned to whisper in my ear. "You're not pregnant are you?"

My eyes widened, and I pushed him back.

"W-why would you think that?! We simply went to sleep together!" The whole room went quiet and I felt embarrassed. I felt everyone stare at me, including the superior's table.

"Yeah, Eren. Nothing happened." Armin chimed in to help the situation. Eren slumped forward and hit his head on the table. He let out a deep, frustrated sigh.

"I thought you meant-" He stopped and then groaned. "Don't word it like that, Armin. You had me worried."

Armin laughed nervously, scratching the back of his neck.

"But why'd you sleep together?" Eren proceeded to ask.

"I asked him to." I answered.

"Why?"

"Because?"

"I heard Captain Levi brought you in. What happened?" I'm glad I have a friend like Eren. He wants to know everything that goes on with me, like a true brother.

"I found out my parents divorced after I left to join the Training Corps...I got upset about it and drank. Captain Levi didn't think it'd be safe for me to ride back on my own." I explained.

"How'd you end up with Armin?"

"Captain Levi ordered him to help me to my room." Eren closed his eyes for a few second before opening them again.

"Just friends?" Eren asked, waiting for us to confirm that we are nothing more.

"Just friends." Armin and I said in unison.
