Nycole threw one of her boots at me to wake me up. I wiped my eyes and saw her in her grey sweater and light blue skirt with a bow on it. Her hair was in a fishtail braid and makeup all done. She begged me to get up so we could leave to wherever she wanted to go. I climbed out of the bed and got right into the shower. I got out and changed into a floral top and white jeans. I curled my hair and did my makeup then walked out of the bathroom, grabbing my purse, sunglasses, and camera. I put on my black Toms and followed Nycole out of the room.

"Did you remember the key?" I asked her. She nodded. We took a walk to a coffee shop, got some coffee, and sat down outside together.

"So," Nycole started. She took a sip of her coffee. "You and Steve?" She looked up from her drink and smiled mischievously.

"There's nothing there," I laughed.

"Oh, so that kiss in the elevator was nothing?" She asked. I choked on my drink and covered my mouth. She laughed at me. "It's okay. He told me."

"Where'd he go this morning, by the way?" I asked.

"He went for a jog," she said. "I knew you two would have something. That's okay, because I set up something for you two."

"You set up something for us?" I asked. She nodded. "Like, a date?" She nodded. I rolled my eyes and took a sip of my coffee. "You better let me borrow some things."

"You're not mad?" She asked, surprised. I nodded. "Yes! We better get going. That seminar won't wait for us."

We took our coffee with us and walked to wherever the seminar was. After we walked in, the doors shut behind us. I jumped then faced the room. Almost every seat was full. I put on my glasses and listened to the man that was speaking. The thing he was speaking about was something I wouldn't understand, but Nycole would. I looked around at all the people, but no one looked back. I took a sip of the last of my coffee then spotted some seats. I took Nycole's arm and dragged her to the seats. We sat and paid attention to this speaker.

"These people need to be stopped," he demanded. I looked up at the screen and saw people who looked as though they may be criminals, but I wouldn't know.

I fiddled with my coffee cup more and waited for Nycole to be ready to leave, but she wasn't. She was busy taking notes. She looked like she was on a roll and I could never understand why. Whatever this man was saying, to me, it was nonsense. I didn't care for it.

After about an hour, the seminar ended. Nycole shook hands with the man who was giving the lecture and we left. As we walked back to the hotel, she pulled out her phone to call someone. She spoke to someone whose voice I couldn't recognize and led me to a different place instead of the hotel.

"Lunch," she whispered to me.

We reached whatever restaurant we were going to and people met us inside, taking us to a secluded area. I realized I had gotten into something private that maybe I shouldn't be involved in, but it was too late. I was involved now.

A man and woman took us into a room and we were all alone now. I faced Nycole for an explanation, but she didn't look at me. I sighed. The man told us to take a seat, which we did. I tried to find an explanation in these faces, but there wasn't one. The man sat across from Nycole and the woman sat across from me.

"Who's this?" The woman asked.

"My friend," Nycole said. "She was at the lecture. She understands this. She keeps things secret." The woman nodded.

"So, she would understand?" She asked.

"If given an explanation, please," I said.

Nycole leaned over to me and whispered to keep quiet about these things. I nodded and stayed silent unless asked to give information. Nycole and the two others spoke about previous meetings. I got my food and drink and ate quietly so I didn't intrude. The lunch was almost over. Everyone was done and I thought everyone was finished with their conversations.

"Nycole," the man started. "Are you ready to come back to SHIELD?" She laughed a little, then realized he was serious.

"I don't know, Fury. I'm not ready to get shot at once again," she joked. "But I might as well. I'm working with you right now, so." She stopped and looked at me. "She can help."

"I have no specialties," I said.

"Don't listen to her. She CAN help. She can be my sub," Nycole laughed. I kicked her leg and she smiled.

"That's fine, just as long as you're back, Nycole," the woman said. Nycole nodded and we headed out again.

"What did you get me into?" I asked. "Did I just join the mafia or what?"

"We do good," Nycole said.

And that was the end of the conversation.

We got back to the room and went our separate ways. I watched TV while she went into her room and did whatever. Her door was shut. I got up and decided that I would go out on a walk. I knocked on Nycole's door and told her I was leaving. She told me to be back before 6 so she could help me get ready. I put my Tom's back on and left the hotel.

I walked around the buildings awhile and even went into some shops. By the time my feet started hurting, it was only 4:30. I groaned and made my way back to the hotel. In the hotel room, Nycole set out all of her things for me to wear. She guided me through all the things.

"Choose what you want," she said.

I ran my fingers over all the items and ended up choosing only two. I chose her silver glitter pumps and black clutch with a bow on it. Nycole sat me down in a seat and started curling my hair. I watched in the mirror as she curled my long hair.

"What dress are you going to wear?" Nycole asked.

"Probably the mint one," I said.

"Not the one you wore yesterday, right?" She groaned. "Mint is like your favorite color!"

"No, the strapless one," I laughed. Nycole nodded. "So, Nycole, how do you know Steve?"

"SHIELD," she said. "I helped someone get the team together and that's how we met." I nodded.

"How come I've never heard of him until yesterday?" I asked.

"Because our friendship isn't about business. Just friendship," she replied. I smiled at her through the mirror. She set the curling iron down and pulled my curls apart. "Done."

She moved on to my makeup and we didn't speak. I turned on some music to fill in the silence. Nycole announced she was done with my makeup then let me put on my dress. I went into the bathroom, put on my dress carefully, and walked out of the bathroom.

By this time, it was almost 6. Nycole smiled and pulled my dress down in places that needed it. I looked at myself in the mirror and smiled widely. I loved when Nycole did my hair and makeup because she made me look unbelievable. She helped me slip on the pumps and stand straight. I smiled at her and hugged her tightly.

"Thank you," I whispered.

"Anything for my best friend," she replied.

The knock on our door made us jump apart. Nycole checked my hair and dress then answered the door. She said hello to Steve and let him in. I faced Steve and smiled. Steve was holding flowers and was dressed simply, but looked better than me. He wore a grey shirt, brown leather jacket, and jeans. Nycole looked at me then Steve, then handed me the clutch.

"Are those for me?" I asked. Steve looked at the flowers then me.

"Oh, yeah," he said. He handed me the bouquet of colorful flowers. They were all shades of pink with some white.

"Thank you," I said. Nycole took the flowers from me and pushed me towards Steve.

"Shall we leave?" Steve asked.

"Yes we shall," I replied with a smile.
