Chapter Fourteen ♡

My month alone with Tony and Pepper was almost perfect, but it, of course, came to an end. Tony and Pepper were going to meet everyone at Tony's place and invited me to go. I told them I didn't want to go. Pepper begged me to go, but I lied and told her I had work to do.
I drove to the private gym Pepper had told me about and parked in her spot. I grabbed my gym bag from the passenger seat and walked into the vacant gym. I removed my hoodie to where I was in only my grey Nike sports bra then put my headphones in my ears, music already starting to play. I wrapped my hands and went for the punching bag.
After a few punched and kicks, I moved on to the treadmill. I ran for a while then heard a noise. I unplugged an earbud, turned down the speed, and looked behind me. There was no one. I turned off the treadmill and leaned over the water fountain, drinking the water. I heard another noise and turned in the direction. I kicked the person that was there back.
"Oh, sorry!" I said, covering my mouth when I realized it was Clint. He smiled and stood up, laughing at me.
"It's okay," he replied. "It's fine." I smiled and nodded.
"What brings you here?" I asked. I packed up my gym back and took another drink.
"I'm trying to convince you to go with me to see everyone," Clint said. I rolled my eyes and threw my bag down.
"I'm not going," I said.
"How about we fight for you to go?" Clint asked. I squinted my eyes at him. "If I win, you go. If you win, you can not go."
"And $20," I said. Clint laughed and nodded.
"And $20," he repeated.
We got into starting position and went over the rules. Once I said I was ready, we started attacking each other. We made sure we wouldn't hit each other in the face. I climbed up to his shoulders and wrapped my legs around his neck, squeezing, when he called out. He helped me down and smiled.
"So," he handed me a 20 dollar bill, "here's your money. I'll leave you be," he said. He started to leave, but I stopped him.
"Should I go?" I hesitated to ask. Clint nodded. "Wouldn't it be awkward?"
"No, everyone misses you," he said. "Michelle and Bucky are together. Steve is lost without you. He misses you."
"And I miss him," I whispered.
"Just go, please," Clint said.
"Okay, just don't tell anyone I'm coming," I told him. He nodded then hugged me. "Okay, okay, now go!" I pushed him away and he laughed.
I followed him to my car and we drove our separate ways. I drove to the place I was staying at and hurried into the place to get ready. I took a shower then let my hair go naturally and started my makeup. Clint texted me and told me that they all were meeting in a half an hour. I put on a red maxi dress then my black sandals and red flower crown. I grabbed my clutch and put my phone and keys in it then left to go to Tony's.
I arrived at Tony's and everyone's car was there. I parked and felt uneasy about walking in. I texted Clint, telling him I was there, and he told me to come in. I walked in and followed the sound of people talking. Their conversation became clear and I walked into the room. Everyone faced me and Steve stood from his spot. I waved and smiled a little.
"What are you waiting for, Capsicle?" Tony asked. Steve glared back at him. "Kiss her." Steve looked back at me then walked away. I breathed, not noticing that I was holding my breath, and headed back to my car.
"Adriella!" Nycole yelled from behind me. I turned towards her and she smiled. "He's nervous. He was hoping you would be here, and when he saw you, he panicked. Tony wasn't helping." I sighed and smiled.
"Really?" I asked. She nodded.
We headed back inside and I sat beside her, looking for Steve. Tony had gone to talk to him. Michelle and Bucky were talking about something and everyone listened. I felt the couch bend down. I looked over and saw Steve. He smiled at me and placed his hand on my knee. Tony announced that he and Bruce were ready to make food and needed Pepper and Michelle's help with the other foods. Everyone went their own ways and Steve and I sat on the porch with Bucky.
"He really likes her," Steve whispered about Bucky.
"He does?" I asked, leaning closer to him. Steve nodded.
"I think they're in love," he smiled. "I haven't seen Bucky this happy in awhile." I smiled and watched Bucky as he stared at Michelle.
Just the way he looked at her made me wish I was looked at in that way. He loved her and unwillingly smiled at her as she chopped the vegetables. He was imagining them together in their own home.
Steve placed his lips on my cheek while I was staring at Bucky. I looked back at him, blushing instantly. He hadn't kissed me since the whole thing with Tyler. He smiled at me the grabbed my hand. I willingly took it.
"Where are you staying?" I asked.
"A hotel," he replied.
"Not anymore," I whispered. Steve smiled and kissed the back of my hand. I smiled and squeezed his hand, not taking my eyes off him.
"Okay, lovers, time to break it up and help out," Natasha called out at us. Steve and I pulled away and went to help. Steve helped Tony and Bruce and I helped the girls. "You come with me and help set the table," Natasha said. I followed her and set the rectangular table. "He missed you," Natasha whispered. "He stayed cooped up in your apartment most of the time. Bucky and I had to drag him out of there." I looked up at her and smiled. "When he walked away once he saw you, he was so nervous." She laughed a little. "He thought you hated him and that was why you left." I shook my head.
"He's such a fool," I whispered. I stood beside Natasha and looked at the table. "How's it look?"
"Great," she replied, pulling the table cloth down a little.
"Dinner is ready!" Thor announced.
Natasha and I rushed in the kitchen to help grab the food and place it on the table. Michelle and Jane helped us and Pepper and Nycole got drinks for everyone. The men were cleaning themselves up and once us ladies were done, we did the same. We came back to the table and the guys pushed our chairs in once we sat in them. We all say beside each other and spoke as we ate.
After we ate, Michelle suggested we start a bonfire and make s'mores. We all agreed and moved to the beach where Thor and Tony made a fire pit. Michelle and I took a walk on the beach together.
"How are you and Bucky?" I asked.
"We're great. He's sweet and caring and everything I wanted in a man," she said. She sighed. "I think I'm in love with him."
"Oh my gosh!" I gushed. She smiled and covered her mouth. "I'm so happy you found someone who makes you this happy! I haven't seen you like this since high school." She stopped and removed her hands.
"I haven't seen you this happy since never," she said. "I want you to stay with Steve. You deserve him and I just want to see you happy. After everything, you need it."
"Thanks," I whispered.
We headed back to the group and sat beside Bucky and Steve. Steve held me closer to him and kissed my forehead. I leaned into him and watched Clint start the fire. Everyone roasted marshmallows and laughed and had fun conversations. I took my marshmallow and handed it to Steve, but he refused. I tried again, but he instead pushed it into my mouth. I laughed and pouted my lips out for him to kiss. He laughed a little and kissed me. Nycole yelled at us not to get stuck and we laughed as we pulled away.
The fire died and we all moved inside. Some people left, some stayed. I spoke with Pepper about work and other things. She told me she would transfer me if I wanted to move back, but she had to know soon. I told her I would probably move back and she was happy with my choice. I asked Steve if he was ready to, which he was, and we left after saying goodbye to everyone that was left.
We got to where I was staying and changed into pajamas. I turned on the tv once I sat on my bed and put my glasses on. Steve sat beside me and pulled close to him. I smiled and looked at him while he watched tv.
"I'm sorry," I whispered. Steve looked at me, confused for a moment, then smiled.
"You don't need to be sorry anymore," Steve replied. "Just as long as I have you now, I'm happy."
