Steve was gone for the afternoon with Tony and Bucky so I was alone until 5 or 6. I lied in bed, trying to fall back asleep, but just couldn't. It started to storm outside and I wondered if it was storming where Steve was. I stood from the bed and started to walk around the house. I looked at the pictures that hung in the hall. I giggled at the memories. I pulled down the picture from when we were in California and everyone was meeting for dinner then had a fire. Michelle snuck a picture of us fighting over the marshmallow.

After cooking some lunch, I got a call from Steve. He told me he would be home around five and couldn't wait to see me. I hung up and played some music while I started to clean. I found a song that reminded me of me and Steve's relationship. I played the song over and over again and couldn't get it out of my mind. I twirled around and giggled.

"If your love is just a dream, don't wake me up, it's hard enough to face the world alone," I sang.

When I looked at the clock, it was only one. I exercised then got into the shower. I planned to surprise Steve with dinner. I jumped out of the shower and hurried to do my hair and light makeup. I put on a short, sleeveless dress, the top being white and bottom being turquoise.

I quickly started to cook and set the table. I tossed a salad, then sat it on the table, finished the Italian chicken, set it on plates next to the fresh vegetables, and moved on to dessert. I grabbed whine glasses and put cookies at the bottom, yogurt, then fruit on top. I made several of those then hid them.

I looked at the time and realized it was exactly five. I put on heels then heard Steve pull up. I turned down the lights and lit the candles on the table. I stood behind the table and heard the door unlock. Steve walked in and dropped his bag. He chuckled a little and looked around.

"Why's it so dark?" He laughed, still looking around. I laughed a little and he turned in my direction. "Wow," he breathed. He headed towards the table and stopped in front of it. "Why?" He asked with a smile.

"I missed you," I whispered. He listened intently to the song that was playing, then smiled and sat down. I sat across from him and smiled.

"What's this song?" Steve asked.

"I found it today and it made me think of us," I said, realizing how stupid it actually sounded coming out of my mouth. He smiled and started to eat.

He spoke about what Tony, Bucky, and himself did while I was alone. I told him about cleaning and working out. He apologized for leaving me alone, but I told him it was okay. We finished eating and I pulled out the dessert I made. Steve was so surprised that I did all of this. I kissed his cheek and sat down, eating mine.

Once we both were finished, Steve stood and held his hand out for me to dance. I willingly took it and giggled. We swayed back and forth to the song. Steve dipped me down, and I tilted my head back, laughing at how cheesy it was. I leaned my head back up slowly and Steve leaned close to my face. He placed his lips on mine and pulled me back up, slowly.

"Sing me something that'll bring me to my knees, that'll put my mind at ease. Please tell me anything. We could build this like a dream, let's make believe, just you and me," I sang along. Steve tried to sing along, but I laughed too hard to hear if he was singing correctly or not. The song started to end and we slowed down. "You are the one I waited for, I knew it all along," I whispered. Steve pulled away and stared into my eyes.

"Really?" He asked. His voice changed and it sent chills all over me. I nodded and caught my breath.

It felt like something in him had changed, but it was still the Steve I know.

He attacked my lips with his and cupped my face. I pulled him closer by his shirt and he was quick to lead us backwards to our room. I pulled off his shirt and tossed it aside. I stopped before I fell on the bed and stared up at Steve. He looked down at me and moved my hair out of my face.

"Is this what you want to do?" I asked. "I just want to make sure that you know that you'd be okay with this. Or maybe this is something Tony has put into your mind-"

"Do you not want to?" Steve asked. I shook my head.

"I just want to make sure it's you that wants this," I whispered. He took my hand and smiled. He convinced me that he did.

I sat in front of the computer screen, only looking for nothing at the moment. Steve was asleep and I didn't want to bother him by watching tv. I had washed the dishes and now moved onto something Michelle wanted me to do. Bucky had proposed to her, and she wanted me to help plan her wedding and be maid of honor. I wiped my eyes and groaned. The seat was very uncomfortable. I yawned then went on to the next page of my search. Steve put his hand on the desk. I wrapped my arms around his one arm and looked up at him with a tired smile.

"He finally asked her?" Steve asked. I nodded. "Good." He turned my chair around to face him and smiled. "Did you sleep?" He asked.

"No, I couldn't. I didn't want to bother you by watching tv so I did the dishes then Michelle called, freaking out," I said. Steve nodded and kissed my forehead. I yawned, and Steve stood up. He picked me up and started to carry me to our room. "No, I need to work," I whined.

"No, you need to sleep," Steve whispered. I groaned and nuzzled into his neck. He set me down on the bed and put the blanket over me.

"Are you not going to lay with me?" I asked, cuddling up with the blanket.

"I am," Steve laughed. He climbed into the bed and wrapped his arms around me. I gave him a little peck on the lips before I fell asleep.
