The sound of my blows hitting the punching bag echoed in the room. I was alone for now. Steve went out for a jog with Sam. I figured that I would get back into shape after all that happened. I stopped for a second and got a drink.
"Would you like some music, Miss Bohn," Jarvis asked. I jumped at the voice then remembered that Tony had installed it, saying my apartment needed help. I placed my hand on my forehead and sighed.
"I'm gonna have to get used to you, Jarvis. But yes, please," I replied. I took a sip of my water then went back to the punching back once the music started.
My punches and kicks were in sync with the beat of the song. I took my anger out on the bag and felt my hand starting to bleed under my bandage. There were a few screams and grunts every often and they were my own. When the song ended, I was finished. I pushed the loose strands of hair out of my face and tried to get my breathing back to normal. I unwrapped my hands and saw my left hand really was bleeding. I wrapped it back up and went for my water.
"That's a lot of anger you have," I heard Bucky say from behind me. I turned and swallowed hard.
"After the past few months, yeah," I nodded, putting my hands on my hips. "I'm just trying to get back in shape just in case something close to what happened happens again." I walked past Bucky. "I have a bad feeling."
I jumped into the shower and cleaned my sweaty body. I jumped out and changed into a short white dress that faded to a coral color then slid on white converse. I grabbed a jean jacket and walked out of my room. Bucky tried to talk to me, but I couldn't deal with anything right now. I told him that I would be back and walked to the bookstore.
I browsed the books and grabbed a coffee before looking for more. I bought five then walked to the grocery store. I wanted to make Nycole a meal when she came back. I picked up a pepper and examined it, making sure it was good. I heard my name and turned. When I didn't see anyone, I went back to what I was doing.
"How are you?" Someone asked. I pivoted and came face-to-face with Tyler.
"Better," I stated. I moved around him and tried to get to the fruit.
"What have you been up to?" Tyler asked.
"Staying out of sight," I replied. I didn't know if he could tell the annoyance in my voice. It was loud enough for anyone to hear. I pulled out my card and got ready to hit the panic button. Tony told me that it would let everyone who wore the earpiece that I was in trouble. "Leave me alone, Tyler," I sternly said.
"Okay," Tyler said, throwing up his hands. "Sorry." He walked away and I kept the card in my hand. Tyler was unpredictable and I didn't want anything to happen.
After I got the fresh produce and purchased them, I started to walk home. I could feel a presence behind me and walked faster. I turned a corner then looked to see who was following me.
Tyler was there.
I quickly pulled out my card and pressed the button then shoved it down my bra. I ran towards my apartment, but Tyler pulled me back. I screamed and went to attack him, but he used a taser on me and my body went limb.
When I woke up, I was chained to a bed by my hands and feet. I tried to move, but I couldn't. I looked around for Tyler then realized we were in a dirty hotel. I heard a noise in the bathroom and realized that that was were Tyler was. The door to the bathroom opened and Tyler appeared. An evil smile appeared on his lips.
"How are you, princess?" He sweetly asked. It was a nickname he knew annoyed me. He walked to the side of my bed, leaned down, and kissed my cheek. Disgust ran all over my body. "I kept your groceries refrigerated for you."
"Why am I here?" I asked through gritted teeth. I wanted to lift my leg up and kick him in the head, but I couldn't. I closed my eyes.
"Because you didn't die then," he replied. My eyes opened and panic rushed through my body. I didn't show it on my face, though.
"You were the one who shot Nycole," I stated more than questioned. "You were after us. You're with Hydra." He smiled and started to unlock the cuffs.
"We're going to eat then the deal will be done," he said.
He helped me off the bed and handcuffed my hands behind my back. He forgot my feet. I was forced down in the seat and Tyler put my arms around the back of the seat. I waited to see if he would cuff my feet, but he didn't. I made out a plan in my head to get out. I knew someone had to be on their way, I pressed the button. I tried to suffocate the tears that were starting. I took a deep breath and looked towards Tyler.
He was heating up something. It was probably the food we would be eating. He spoke to himself and pressed buttons. I went over the plan in my head and made sure it would all go okay. Tyler announced a few things then walked into the room, setting a plate in front of me and one in front of him. He realized that I couldn't eat with my hands tied and put a straw in the soup. I leaned forward, not taking my eyes off him, and took a sip.
"Was it fun working with Rogers?" Tyler asked. "Him saving you." I didn't reply. I stared at him with an unreadable expression. He went on. "I wished the Winter Soldier would have killed him then and there. I would have loved to see him fall. Or be crushed by the helicarrier. Either way, that "captain" should have died in the ice. Stealing my girl and all that." I took another sip and stared at him. He leaned forward after putting the spoon in his mouth. He never had good manners. "I don't share."
"I knew that already," I stated.
"Since I don't share and you don't want me, and you're like my mission or whatever, I'll take you away from him," he said. Sirens went off and I could tell Steve or Tony or whoever was on their way. Tyler panicked and looked out the window. "You called the cops?" He screamed. I shook my head, no. "Yes you did!" He went to stand, but I made my move.
I kicked the table up and it hit Tyler. The hot soup poured on him. He screamed in pain. I moved my arms from the chair and quickly took the key, unlocking my hands. Tyler stood from his spot and I stared at him, ready for anything. He murmured something in German then smiled.
"I won't give up without a fight, Tyler," I said. "You know that." Tyler frowned and pounced towards me.
We both hit and kicked each other and the sirens got louder. Tyler took a knife that seemed to come out of nowhere, pushed me against a wall, and jammed it in my shoulder. I screamed in pain then kicked him off me. I ripped the knife out of my shoulder and threw it down. I knocked Tyler down and went for the knife on the floor. I stood over Tyler and kicked at his face. I broke his arm and leg in two swift movements, something I learned from Natasha, and sat over him. He spit on my face, and I punched him. I could hear the sirens almost a block away.
"He's never going to love you," Tyler whispered. "You're just some girl. You'll never amount to anything, Adriella. You'll be like your family. Nothing." I yelled and felt Tyler take a hand of my arm that had the knife in it.
After fighting for a moment on where the knife would go, the knife pierced his body right in the heart. I stood from where I was and saw what had happened. Tyler smiled before coughing up blood. His eyes rolled back in his head and I processed what had happened. He forced the knife into himself. On the door, there was a pounding sound. I stared down at Tyler's lifeless body. The door broke down and I looked up to see Steve.
"Steve," I breathed with tears flowing down my face.
And that was all I remembered before passing out.
I woke up in the back of an ambulance. The woman was wrapping up my left shoulder. I looked at her and she smiled. She explained that I was okay now, thanks to Steve. She wrapped a blanket around me and walked away. Steve headed towards me and smiled. I looked down at where my hands were supposed to be. They were under the blanket.
"He said I will never amount to anything," I whispered when Steve was near me. "That I'm nothing, just like my family." Steve kissed my forehead.
"You don't have to listen to him now," he murmured. I looked up at him and could feel my tears welling up.
"He said I was just a girl to you and you would never love me," I said, biting my lip. Steve looked me in the eyes then kissed my lips. He leaned his forehead against mine after the kiss and cupped my head in his hands.
"Adriella, I love you," he whispered. My heart dipped and a smile tugged at my lips.
"I love you, too, Steve," I whispered back.
He took me home and Bucky examined my arm. I told him we had matching arms right now. He laughed and hugged me. He went back to his room and Steve helped me into mine. He helped me change into different clothes and set my card that I hid in my bra on the nightstand. I crawled into bed and Steve said he was going to go get the groceries that I didn't get to take home.
I laid in bed, trying to sleep, while Steve was gone, but I just couldn't. What happened played in my mind over and over again. I wished that the EMT would have given me pain killers, but she didn't. I heard the front door open and close then Bucky walk out of his room. I stood from my bed and walked towards the door to hear their conversation.
"Was she okay?" Bucky asked. I heard a bar seat scratch against the ground.
"I think she's mentally scarred," Steve replied, opening the fridge. I grabbed a tablet and pulled up the camera recording to watch their body language. They were comfortable together. "He shot Nycole. He then told her that she was nothing and I would never love her."
"You do love her, right?" Bucky asked. Steve nodded. "Good, because if you didn't, I would definitely ask her on a date."
"Bucky," Steve laughed. He finished putting the groceries away then grabbed a water bottle and leaned against the counter. "I told her I love her," Steve whispered.
"She said it back?" Bucky asked. Steve nodded, taking a drink from the bottle. "She's the perfect girl for you. I don't think anyone could be better for you." Steve smiled.
"I better get to bed and make sure she's okay," Steve said. I placed the tablet down and quickly and quietly rushed to the bed.
"Jarvis, this never happened," I whispered, pulling the covers over myself.
"It did happen, though," Steve said. I covered my face and smiled. Steve climbed into the bed with me and kissed my forehead. I sighed and closed my eyes.
"You make me feel endless," I whispered, kissing Steve before falling asleep.
