CHAPTER 17: COOKIES

Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar?

Chris Glasgow alighted from the lift leading to Saragossa Hotel's secret underground room – the main control room of the Spider Web. As he walked past the several hundreds of screens, airing live feeds from security cameras all over the world, he noticed that someone has arrived on the room earlier than he did.

"Yo, Yoon!"

"Yo, yo, yo Chris!" Yoon replied cheerfully in crooked English. "Wass'up man?"

"Yo, you look busy. What are you doing?"

Yoon was standing in front of a long desk with several wires, pliers, screwdrivers, and testers cluttered on top of it it. Chris approached him out of curiosity, watching him as he scrambled through his collection of forceps to begin replacing loose wires of his wrecked headphones with new ones.

"Lady Nu dropped it from the 25th floor," Yoon heaved a sigh.

"Aw, that's such a pain, yo..." Chris shook his head.

"That's not the worst part," Yoon frowned. "Now I had to download all my songs again!"

"Aw, that's double the pain, yo."

Seeing the box of cookies beside Yoon's repairing tools, Chris grabbed one piece and took a bite.

"Yo, your girls gave you food again, huh?"

"Want some more?" Yoon said, pointing towards the humongous sack behind him.

"Whoah!" Chris leaped over the table and opened Yoon's gift sack, where he found more sweets given by her female classmates.

"Where is Rei?", Yoon asked.

"He was the one who called us here, yo," Chris said as he walked towards the computers and began surveying the screens on display. "He should be somewhere. I'll look for him, yo, wait a sec."

"No need."

"Yo, yo, yo, Yoshifumi-sama, yeah!" Yoon rapped again in crooked English as he watched Rei enter the room. "Wass'up?"

Instead of replying to Yoon, Rei sat beside Chris on the control station, "Have you spotted the ship yet?"

Nodding, Chris zoomed in one of the screens, "A cargo ship disguised as an oil tanker – Spectra calls it the LodeStar, yo... "

"LodeStar, huh?" Rei said, folding his arms on his chest as he examined at the image on the screen.

"I hacked into the nautical database and got hold of the designated routes for each ship. It seems that LodeStar has been drifting away from their track quite too often, yo. I tapped onto their communication systems to confirm and yes, affirmative," Chris reported, showing the data on the screen. "Yo, they use the ship to smuggle weapons, drugs, and diamonds in and out of Japan."

"When's the next transaction?"

"Tonight."

Standing up from his seat, Rei spun around and walked towards the exit. As he passed by Yoon, however, he tapped him on his shoulder and took a cookie from the box beside him.

"We'll be stealing some cookies from the cookie jar," Rei smiled, pointing towards the broken headphones. "So make sure you fix that on time."

"Right on!" Yoon exclaimed.

Munching the cookie, Rei tapped Yoon's shoulder one last time, "Tonight, we have a ship to launch and you're coming with me."

"What about Yoshida-sama and Lin-noona?" Yoon called him back.
