CHAPTER 39: CASTLE
I’m taking what’s mine back.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My castle is under attack.
The helicopter soared mightily across the foggy, sleet-laden metropolis. Looking through my binoculars, I spotted a vast number of Spectra men surrounding the Empire Hotel, their black cars barricading the hotel perimeter. They marched to position like soldiers preparing for battle, each of them armed with high caliber guns.
Who was their target? Me?
Hah.
Fools.
As soon as my helicopter landed on the helipad, I hurriedly hopped off and grasped my guns, reloading each of them with bullets. I strode towards the rooftop door, kicking it open with my winter boots as I marched further into my castle’s interior. I descended through the spiraling staircase, reaching for my pocket to pull out a small device. I placed the communicator onto my right ear and turned it on.
"Spider, make sure they don't reach the Saragossa," I commanded.
Chris' voice sounded on the other line.
- Copy, yo.
From inside, I heard the sound coming from the helicopter engine and propeller becoming softer and softer. Earlier, Chris detected via GPS another group headed for my other hotel, the Saragossa, where the Spider Web was located. The wisest decision was to go into teams to ‘clean up’ what needs to be cleaned. I tasked Chris and Yoon to do that other half of the job.
As we finally reached the door leading to the hotel proper, I turned towards Lin, "How many are they?"
"Excluding the ones on the Fuji Mountain trail – one hundred fifty," Lin answered.
"How many are we?"
"Excluding the ones patrolling on Saragossa and including the members of the allied mafia organizations – one hundred fifty."
"My wild guess is that there are ten of them behind this door," I grinned as I grasped my guns tighter. "Wanna check if I'm correct?"
BAMMM!
I kicked the door opened and found ten men standing before the hotel corridor of the 100th floor, their guns pointed towards me and Lin. Before they could even fire, I pulled the trigger madly as I glided like a furious storm, my speed almost equaling that of the bullets which perforated their chests one after another. The remaining men and incoming back-ups fired towards us, but their bullets hit merely the frosty air. We were able to dodge each of them with our swift movements that almost resembled a ceremonial dance Lin and I used to rehearse. Lin hastily threw poison darts that drilled unto the foe's foreheads, melting ten seconds after each hit. The men juddered on the floor as blood crawled out of their lips.
Leaping past the corpses sprawled on the ground, Lin and I headed towards the elevator and pushed the DOWN button. I looked up to the electronic floor panel above, tapping my winter boots on the floor along with every decrease of number.
"Take the other elevator, Siren," I commanded to Lin, gesturing towards the elevator on the other side of the hall.
"You're going straight into a trap, Lady Nu," Lin answered.
"No," I shook my head. "They're the ones going into my trap."
"B…But…"
"Go ahead and inform Sting that I'm already here," I said. "And make sure that you evacuate all hotel guests immediately."
