Rosalie's Point of View

My dad was the best. He was always by my side. He loved me.
He died unexpectedly from a major stroke. We never thought we will go that way. He was healthy. He died when I was 16 years old. The time I needed both my parents; he left.

"Sweetie?" my mom asks. I am looking at the photo album Charlie brought to me. There's a photo of my dad and me with Louie when he was just a little kitten. He found him near a trash can at his work. Louie is the only thing I have left of my dad.
I am still at the hospital. It has been a week since I almost died. They caught a woman. She was drunk driving; thankfully she is in jail.
"Daniel paid the hospital bill," mom says.
"But I don't need charity," I say.
"Rose, Daniel is worried. He is going to be helping you. Don't push him too. He isn't at fault here,"
I sigh and close the album. I look at my mom. She has change a lot. She has been sober for weeks. Now, she is acting like the mom I used to know before dad passed away.
"I know mom, I just don't want anything relating to Luke," I answer.
"I dont know all of it like your brother. However, I know that man loves you. Luke never did. Don't push Daniel away because of his last name. If he has done something bad to you then go ahead and tell him to fuck off,"
I chuckle. "Mom! You said a bad word!"
She blushes. "Sorry. I am trying to be hip."
I roll my eyes. "Sure."
I look at my arm in a cast. Darn, I am really lucky I am alive. My ribs hurt though but I am okay. My head stop hurting yesterday as well.
"Charlie says that the doctor came by earlier; what did he say?"
I smile. "That I am a good patient and if I continue by the end of the week, I can go home."
Mom cheers. "Amazing! That's very good news." She hugs me with just a bit of pressure.
"I cant wait to see Louie. Has Charlie and his man been taking good care of him?"
"Yes, Louie cant wait to see you too," mom smiles.
I continue going over the photos.

Friday

Daniel is carrying me up the stairs to my place.
"Here we are missy," he gently puts me down. I am finally out of the hospital. However, I will need surgery for my arm later this month.
"Thank you," I say. He opens the door. I don't understand why he is still here. He knows everything Luke and I did. I couldnt handle it anymore; I thought I was going to die so I told him everything.
"I'll let you know when you need to go to human resources to sign the papers," he says.
I nod. I quit Gordon's again.
"Okay, then, bye for good," Daniel looks down at me. I feel so stupid.
"Yeah, thank you," I whisper.
The door opens more and it is Charlie. He has Louie in his arm. I smile wide. "Hi baby!" I quickly yet slowly walk to the couch so Charlie can give me Louie. I have him on my lap and he is purring.
"I missed you too," I say.
"Don't leave!" I suddenly hear Dan yell. I turn around and see him pulling Daniel in. "We got a special dinner and you're the hero remember?"
"No I am not, it is okay guys," Daniel says. I stand and let Louie on the couch. "He is busy guys. Besides he deserves way more than dinner," I look at Daniel. He deserves true love and a big statue with his name. He really did save me.
Daniel looks down. "How about I stay for a bit?" He looks up at me.
I nod. It hurts to see him but if he wants to stay, he can.
Dan chuckles. "Yes! Okay bro, you need to taste my lasagna. It is the best!"
Charlie rolls his eyes and kisses his cheek. "Sweetie, you think that."
Daniel smiles and walks towards me. We sit.
"Let me pour some punch!" Charlie exclaims.
"I am hungry," Daniel says. He pets the cat.
"My mom and Shayla are coming over too," I say.
"Cool."
....
The food was delicious. Shayla is with me on the couch watching tv.
"So why is he here?" Shayla asks in a whisper.
"Dan and Charlie wanted to thank him so they threw this dinner," I answer.
"So...what's gonna happen?"
I sigh. "Nothing. I quit Gordon's and he will move on. He isn't mad at me anymore, he just did what is right."
Shayla touches my hand. "Rose, you also need to move on."
I nod. "I am. Don't worry. This accident just made me feel that I did right. I am not going to let anyone control me anymore."
"Good, you're a good person and you will become a better woman," she smiles.
