Rosalie's Point of View

It is the beginning of May. The weather is sunny and sometimes very hot but for the most part it is nice.
We are having a picnic: Charlie, Dan, Shayla, and my mom. It has been a week that I talked to Luke about my pregnancy. Daniel knows too. Nathan was able to contact him two days ago. He is surprised but wants to wait to see if he needs to take responsibility. I understand that. He actually wants to make sure it is his.
"So why the sudden rush to talk?" My mom asks me.
Shayla made this day happen. I am keeping the baby. "Well I have news," I say.
Shayla opens the picnic basket and takes out a white box. "Here open it first," she smiles at my mom.
Charlie chuckles. "Is this just weird to me?"
My mom gasps as she sees the cookies inside. Charlie looks down and yells.
"You're pregnant?!"
I nod. The cookies are blue and pink frosted with baby designs and the due date: Oct 15.
Dan claps and it is the first one to hug me and congratulate me. "You will be a good mom."
We all stand and my mom is crying. "Oh my sweetie," she sniffs as she hugs me, "I can't wait to be a grandma."
Charlie hugs me and tells me everything will be fine.
I can't  help but to cry in his arms. He looks just like dad.
"We all love you and this baby too," mom hugs us.
"So I am not welcome?" We all turn around and Luke is standing in front of us. He has roses in his hands.
"Well of course, you are the father," mom doesn't know about us breaking up. She hugs him. I look at Luke begging him not to say anything with my eyes. I guess he understands and chuckles. "Thank you."
My mom releases him. "So I guess this means a wedding?"
"Mom!" I yell, "No! We are not getting married. This isnt the 1940s or something,"
Shayla claps. "First thing first! Lets enjoy the picnic people. I didnt spend time cooking for nothing. Sit!"
She smiles at me. I nod and walk towards Luke. "Lets go talk."
Luke follows me and we sit by the playground.
"Hi," he says. He places the roses on the table. I softly pet a petal.
"They are nice,"
"I guess they are happy for you,"
I shrug. "Most people love babies,"
"I am sorry for hurting you, but understand that not knowing if thats my kid is something hard for me right now," he says.
"I know,"
"I don't hate you. But I am angry that you had sex with him,"
I look at him. "We weren't together,"
"And thats why I am angry. I cannot be angry at a woman who was single and wanted company. I guess I am also jealous,"
"You're will always be my choice and my favorite," I say.
He gives me a faint smile. "Good."
Some kids giggle and yell as they pass by us. We see them play in the slides and swings.
"Are you really prepared for that?" He asks.
"I have babysat before, kids just need a lot of attention,"
"I don't think I will be a good dad,"
"You don't have to be a perfect dad to be a good one,"
He looks at me. "What if he doesn't like me? I didn't like my dad and even today I get annoyed by him,"
I chuckle. "My dad annoyed me too but that comes with the job. He said it was one of the perks and embarrassing your kid at her prom too."
"Are you gonna embarrassed him too?"
I nod. "Hell yeah, especially if he misbehaves."
He smiles. "I guess you are stronger and braver than me."
I move to his side and sit in front of him. "Luke, why did you come?"
"I wanted to be with you,"
He takes my hands into his. His touch is so warm. It makes me feel butterflies in my stomach.
"I want you and I want to help,"
"You don't have to,"
"I want to,"
I bite my lower lip. "I love you."
He kisses me. "Thank you."
I touch his cheek. "Do you want to stay?"
He nods.
