Chapter 10         (Samantha’s POV)

“Why is Nick here?” Mady asked Cassandra.

“I don’t know why he is here. He just sat down and won’t leave,” Cassandra answered.

Mandy nodded that she understood. The thing about Mandy is that she always gets people. If someone lies she doesn’t push for more details, she just lets it slide and sometimes brings it up privately. This is why she was one of my first friends.

A waiter came and took our orders. We laughed and talked until our food came. Once our food came we started to eat. We all ordered burgers, fries and milkshakes. The diner serves the best burgers and fries I have ever tasted.

Nick’s hand only left my thigh to pick up his burger. Is it bad that I actually wanted his hand to stay on my thigh? He always gave me funny feelings when he would touch me. Does this mean I like him? No I can’t like him. Nick’s my best friend’s ex-boyfriend! I DO NOT LIKE NICK SMITH! No! No! No!

Once we finished eating we left the diner. Cassandra had to go back to work so she left Nick with Mady, Jenna and I.

“Well I have to get going. We have guests coming over,” Jenna said.

“Can you drop me off at my house seeing as you have to go by it?” Mady asked.

“Yeah I can drop you off. See you guys later” Jenna said.

Jenna and Mady waved goodbye then left, leaving Nick and I alone. Which isn’t that good of an idea. A strong winter wind blew making me shiver from the cold.

“Let me drive you home” Nick said.

“No it’s okay. I can walk home,” I didn’t think that Nick and I being in the same vehicle isn’t such a good idea.

I turned on my heel and started my way home. Another big gust of cold winter wind blew. The wind sent shivers down my back making me shiver from the cold air. I pulled my coat tighter around me but it didn’t stop the cold wind from chilling me. I felt a coat being draped over my shoulders. I looked up and saw that Nick had draped his black leather coat over my shoulders.

“Thanks,” I smiled at him. He just gave me a smirk in return.

Nick wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me closer to him. The heat from his body warmed me up and made me want to stay wrapped in his arms. We walked to his truck. Nick opened the door for me. I really didn’t want sit in my own seat. I felt safe wrapped up in Nick’s arms. Nick walked around to the driver’s seat and got in. I didn’t want to go home and face Daren but I had to. Nick started the truck and drove out onto the main road. Instead of going to my house he drove to the closest Starbucks. We got two coffees then drove back to my house. Nick seemed to know what I needed and that was a Starbucks coffee. A couple minutes later Nick pulled into my driveway and stopped. I was about to get out but Nick stopped me.

“Nick I have to go now,” I said softly.

“I know but can you wait a second?” he asked.

“Sure,” I closed the truck door and faced him.

Nick leaned closer so that we were only a couple inches apart, “Will you go out to dinner with me?”

Nick leaned closer to me. My breath got caught in my throat. I wasn’t sure if I should say yes or not. My feelings had taken over my brain and before I could think I was saying, “Yes I’ll got out to dinner with you.”

A smile spread across his face, “Great! How about Tuesday at 7?”

“Okay. See you then!” I said.
