Chapter 21         (Samantha’s POV)

I was sore all over but I wasn’t going to tell anyone what was going on. I wasn’t going to tell anyone what Steve did or who came into my room. I wasn’t going to get Cassandra killed or hurt my family in the process. I’m not even going to tell them what the picture looked like. All I saw before they left was blood and Cassandra lying on the ground looking pale as snow. She looked sick and under feed. It was like when she tried to starve herself because of Nick. I shook the image away and continued eating my slice of pizza. I was starving. I hadn’t eaten for a while. I heard a chair scratch across the floor. The sound made me wince. You know those sounds that you just hate and makes you wince every time you hear it? Well this is one of those sounds. Chairs scratching across the floor is the one sound that I hate.

“Well thanks for the pizza Dan. It was delicious. I think Samantha and I should go and get her stuff,” Tommy spoke.

I smiled at the sound of his voice. It seemed as if I hadn’t heard it in quite a while. I missed it.

I quickly got up from my chair and picked my plate up. I walked over to the sink and placed my plate in the sink, then followed Tommy out the door. I looked into the dark and started to shake. Images of the van and the guys flashed through my mind. I originally thought there were two of them but there were three. The picture the guys showed me flashed through my mind again but this time instead of trying to get rid of it I noticed something familiar and no it wasn’t Cassandra. The room she was in looked so familiar. Where have I seen that room before? The barn! That is where I have seen that room before. It’s the abandoned feed shed that we don’t use anymore. It’s way out back farther than most of the paddocks. It’s the only place on the property that is secluded and good for hiding in. Why didn’t I think of this before? I walked ahead of Tommy and got in the driver’s side of his car.

“And what do you think you are doing?” Tommy smirked at me.

“Driving, now hand over the keys,” I demanded.

“Why do you think you get to drive?” Tommy asked with his eyebrow raised. He looked like a detective trying to solve a murder.

“Cause I think I know where Cassandra is and I want to see if I’m right. Now hand the keys over,” I demanded.

“Magic word,” Tommy smirked.

I rolled my eyes. We don’t have time for this. Cassandra could get hurt or end up dead by the time we get to her.

“If you don’t hand me the fucking keys we could be too late!” I yelled at him.

Tommy handed me the keys but not before mumbling, “Someone’s irritated.”

“I just want to get to my friend before she is hurt! Now get in!” I yelled at him.

He jumped a bit and ran to the other side of the car. He got in and I drove out onto the highway. I sped all the way to the barn. It normally takes me ten minutes to get out there but today it took me five. I parked the car and got out. I went into the barn and grabbed two of the fastest horses on the property. The only way to get out there is by foot or horseback and horseback is faster than walking. I tied the lead ropes to the halters as reins and handed Tommy the black horse as I got on the big bay. I squeezed the horse’s sides and he broke into a gallop. Tommy and I galloped out of the barn and down the path towards the old feed lot. It didn’t take us long to get to the feed shed. I jumped off of my horse’s back before he even came to a stop and ran inside. The feed shed wasn’t that big but there were three different rooms and only one entrance and exit. I ran into the first room and saw nothing but blood on the ground. I quickly walked over the second room. Before I opened the door I heard voices.
