Chapter 15
Why does Daren always have to ruin everything! I hopped into the front seat of a firetruck red Chevy Camaro. Tommy got into the driver’s side and started the car. I guess Mom and Steve bought him a car so he didn’t have to drive Daren’s around aymore.
“Like my car?” Tommy asked smirking at me. He can be a little too cocky sometimes.
I smirked right back at him and said, “As much as someone can like garbage,” there was no come back from Tommy and his mouth hung open, “I’ll give you a little tip. Apply water to that burn and you might want to close your mouth before flies start to fly inside it.”
Tommy closed his mouth and drove out of the parking lot. We drove onto the road that heads to school and stopped at a red light.
“Say sorry,” Tommy broke the silence.
I looked at him confused, “What?”
“Say sorry for insulting Patricia,” Tommy looked at me.
What? Who in God’s name is Patricia? I asked completely confused, “Who the fiddle pops is Patricia?”
Tommy laughed at my word choice, “Fiddle pops?” After a second he sobered up a little, “Patricia is the car.”
The red light turned green and Tommy drove forward, “You already named your car?” I asked.
“Of course!” Tommy exclaimed as we pulled into the school parking lot.
“Guys and their cars,” I mumbled under my breath but he still heard it. Tommy brushed it off and got of the car. I followed suit and walked beside him into the school.
We walked into the school hand in hand. I was stopped a couple of times by some of my classmates before we got to our group. I walked up to Cassandra. She turned around and there was a big smile on her face.
“Hey!” she said bubbly.
“Hi,” I said back, "What's up with your bubbly attitude today? You only ever get that when you’ve had sex with someone. Who was it this time?" I asked.
Cassandra laughed a little bit, "I didn't sleep with anyone last night. My life is finally turning out to be my way and I'm happy."
Okay? I'm now confused to why she was so happy. She hasn't been this happy since Nick left her that night. I brushed it off. Maybe she was seeing someone and didn't want to tell me.
Cassandra and I talked till most of our little group was here. The only people missing we're Daren and Jake. Scratch that just Jake now. Daren walked up and stood beside me. I turned and looked at him. He also had this glow to him that I only have ever seen a couple times. How did I miss it this morning? I guess I was just too angry to give a rat’s butt about how he felt today.
"What's up with you?" Mady asked Daren.
He just smiled and said, "Nothing."
I rolled my eyes and continued talking to our group. We were deep into a conversation about which country was better when the warning bell rang. We all split because we all still had to go to our lockers. Tommy and I walked in the opposite direction of most of our group. When we got to our lockers we had only two minutes to get to class so I quickly put my bag in my locker and grabbed my books. Tommy finished around the same time as I did. I looked at my schedule and saw that I had chemistry first. Great! Chemistry was all the way across the school from my locker!
"I have to go to chemistry across the school. See you later!" I quickly shouted at Tommy as I ran to my class.
I normally had to run to most of my classes to make it on time but today I seemed to be running extra late and had to run faster to make it my class. I reached the hallway right before chemistry when the late bell rang. I slowed down to a stop and saw nobody was in the halls. I was already late so I walked into the closest bathroom and fixed my appearance before walking to class. I walked into chemistry five minutes late.
