Chapter 13 (Tommy’s POV)
The plead in her eyes told me that she didn’t want to just be friends. Maybe we could be more than friends.
“Do you really want to be just friends?” I emphasised the words.
She seemed to think for a little bit, “How do you feel about me?”
I want to kiss you and make you smile. I want you to be mine and mine only. I want to make you smile again. I want to make you happy. Instead of really saying my feelings I just said, “Whatever will make you happy.”
Her mouth quickly turned into a frown but she quickly smiled after, “Do you want to try a relationship?”
“Yeah I do,” Samantha smiled at my answer.
The elevator stopped and the doors opened. We walked out the apartment building and to my car. Samantha stopped abruptly and turned to face me. She had anger written all over her face.
“Why is he here?” she asked coldly.
“He just kind of got in and wouldn’t leave,” I told her truthfully.
She stomped over to the car and got in the back of the car. I followed her to the car and got in the driver’s seat. Samantha was sitting in the backseat with her arms crossed over her chest and glaring at the back of Daren’s head.
Daren turned around and faced Samantha, “Look Samantha I’m sorry for scaring you. I promise not to do it again.”
“Don’t make promises you can’t keep,” she snapped at him.
I felt like I was intruding on a family fight but I kept on driving to school. We sat in silence for the rest of the way. The tension in the air could suffocate somebody.
When we got to school Samantha got out of the car and waited by the side. I got out and grabbed her hand. We walked hand in hand to Samantha’s group of friends. I noticed a girl with brown hair that looked a lot like Mady. As we got closer the girl came into view and it indeed was Mady.
Mady turned around and noticed me, “Tommy!” Mady came running over to me and gave me a big hug, “I heard about your mom. Are you okay?”
“Yeah I’m fine,” I replied.
She smiled then continued her conversation with a blonde guy. Samantha grabbed my hand again. I didn’t realize that she had let it go. Samantha led me away from her group of friends and down another hallway. She stopped once she was outside a door. Samantha opened the door and walked over to a lady at a desk. This must be the office.
“Hi. This is Tommy White. Do you have his schedule and locker ready yet?” Samantha asked the lady at the desk.
The lady handed her a yellow folder, “Locker 312.”
“Thanks!” Samantha said as she dragged me out of the office and down another hallway. Seriously how many hallways does this school have? I might get lost at this school.
Samantha stopped at some lockers. They were 312, 313, 314 and 315.
“My locker is 314. We are right by each other!” Samantha cheered.
Samantha opened the folder and pulled out a bunch of papers. She flipped through them till she came across the paper she was looking for. She handed me a small pink slip of paper that had numbers on it.
“This is your locker combo,” she told me.
I walked to my locker and turned the lock. The lock unlocked and the locker opened up. I put my bag inside and faced Samantha. She handed me a stack of notebooks, a map and a piece of paper with my schedule on it. She opened her locker and grabbed her books.
