Chapter 12      (Samantha’s POV)

“Um…Hi,” I said awkwardly.

“Hi,” Nick was leaning on the doorframe shirtless.

I had to look up at his eyes so that I wasn’t hypnotized by his nicely toned chest. Instead I found myself getting hypnotized by his hazel brown eyes. They were just the nice shade of brown with a few gold flakes in them. They were just so pretty. I was now wishing that my light blue eyes were his hazel brown eyes.

“Um… Samantha? What are you here for?” Nick asked snapping me out of my thoughts.

“Oh. Sorry. I was wondering about the room that you have for rent,” I was glad that I don’t blush easily because that was embarrassing.

“Okay. Come on in,” Nick opened the door for me so that I could walk in.

I followed Nick into the living room and sat down on the couch. Nick sat down beside me.

“Can I move in?” I asked not wanting to beat around the bush with small talk.

“Why did you leave?” Nick asked.

I didn’t want to go to in depth in explaining so I just simply told him, “I had to leave.”

“Okay. You are going to have to pay half the rent each month. Can you handle that?” Nick asked.

“Yeah I can,” I stated.

He seemed to think about something before he said, “Okay you can stay here.”

I threw my arms around him in a hug that startled him.

“Thank you. Thank you. I don’t know where else I would have stayed if you had said no. I will be right back. I have to go and get my stuff from my car,” I told Nick.

Nick nodded his head and handed me a pair of keys. I left the room and walked down to my car. I grabbed my stuff. As I turned around I ran right into Mady Hudson.

“Hey!” Mady said cheerfully.

“Hey,” I greeted Mady.

“What are you doing here?” Mady asked me.

I let out a big sigh, “I live here now.”

“Okay. Well I better get going before my mom has my head. See you Monday!” Mady said.

After I said goodbye I walked back up to the apartment room. When I walked into the room Nick had put a shirt on. He saw me and looked a little bit surprised when he saw my small duffle bag.

“What?” I asked.

“I thought that you would have a lot more bags that just one small duffle bag,” Nick answered sheepishly.

“I left in a hurry. If we need any more blankets or towels I can run to my mom’s place and grab some,” I told Nick.

“Okay. We should be fine with the towels and blankets that we have,” Nick said.

“Okay. What room is mine?” I asked.

“The one on the left,” Nick answered.

I walked into the room and put my bag on the floor. The room was a cream color with light brown hardwood. There was a bed and dresser that was a shade darker than the floor. The room had a cozy safe feel to it.

I walked over to the bed and sat down. The bed was comfortable. I laid down. It was the first time that I was able to think over the last few weeks without any interruptions. As I was thinking I drifted off to sleep.
