Going home

Everyday Different people came from the Team 10 house and brought flowers for Everest. Everest was getting better although she was still shaken up.
It's the day that we can take her home. Me and Jake pack up all her stuff while she watches tv.
She looks at as longingly. She wants to help, she wants to move. But she can't and that's what annoys her. Recently she's been trying to get her casts off. Or trying to beg one of the nurses to. We have to put Everest in a wheel chair as she has a cast on her arm so she can't use crutches.
As you can probably guess she doesn't like wheelchairs but she put up with it in silence. She stayed silent the car ride, we didn't take her straight back we took her to a frozen yogurt shop we know she loved. Me and Logan were in the front of the tesla and Everest right behind us. As soon as she got in the car she started shaking. We didn't know what was up so we carried on driving but we watched her in the mirror of the car.
"I'm scared" She whimpered " I think I'm gonna be sick"
Jake pulled over and got out to help Everest out the car. She batted him away. " I don't need you I'm not a baby" She limped to the bushes as fast as she could and proceeeded to throw up, when she turned back round tears were streaming down her face.
"Oh Everest" Jake omforted " I didnt realise you were so scared"
He went over and hugged her. " look how do you wanna do this we can carry on driving this or we can walk you home.
" It's stupid let's just drive" Everest mumbled back.
" let me get something straight Everest , it is not stupid anyone who's just been in a car crash is not gonna wanna be in a car again, but I promise we can help you get over this, but at the moment I don't think this is the best option"
" Yeah Jake's right and i don't mind a little walk home we could do with some walking"

I smiled at them both even though my cheeks were stained with tears.
Jake helped me into the wheel chair and proper up one of my ankels.
It took us a good twenty minutes to walk home but I was glad I wasn't in a car. My leg was really hurting and I winced everytime I moved it. The neck brace I was in was sticking I'm my neck and it hurt really bad. When we got to the Team 10 house Jake had to lift the wheel chair through the door. It made me feel useless. Everyone was waiting for me and they all were holding something In there hands for me most had some of my favourite sweets others had my fav movies. They piled them in my hands. Dixie jumped from Alex's hands and into my lap. I nuzzled my face into her fur. But ended up screaming at the pain.
Everybody started to fuss over me then. I didn't want to talk to anyone.
I just sat there and looked at the ground.
"I'm tired" I said.
"Look I'll take u to ur room while Jake and Logan sort themselves out" Alex said taking the handle of the chair. He bent down and whispered in my ear " I'm not strong I need somebody else to carry u up the stairs"
I giggled.
He gestured to Chad and Tristan.
It was almost impossible to carry a wheelchair with me in it up a bunch of stairs so after three stairs I got out. I didn't realise it would hurt this bad to walk. I did it through the pain though, my eyes pricking with tears. Chad on one side and Tristan on the other. When I finally got to the top I slumped down next to the wall.
"I can't do this " I whimpered.
"Yeah you can" Alex said wrapping his arm round my waist and helping me into my room.
Logan and Jake came up to see if I was okay. Logan brought with him some food. I guess they had all ordered macdonalds. As soon as he showed it to me i felt sick. I turned my head away when he offered me a chip so he just put it down on the dresser next to my phone. My phone buzzed.
"Can u pass me it Jake, it'll probably be mum"
Jake picked it up on the screen. His face dropped.
"Alex come here" he said
Alex walked over and looked at the screen he looked scared.
"Everest who has your number" Jake asked.
I blushed. Not many people do.
" only everyone in the Team 10 house and mum and dad, what is it!" I asked hurriedly.
Alex sat down on my bed holding my phone. He tilted the screen towards me and I saw the message on the screen.

You deserved it.

I looked up at Jake and Alex. "Do I" I asked. Tears pricking my eyes yet again.
"No don't you dare think that " Jake said.
Alex sat down next to me and hugged me. " it was the dude who was reaching for there phones fought. Don't blame this on your self"
I turned my face into his shoulder and cried. He wrapped his other arm round me. I was so tired and he was so warm that I felt asleep in his arms, but when I woke up he was still there. So was Logan and Jake.
"We all probably need to get some sleep it's been a along day" Jake said . Logan nodded and jumped onto the lilo that was on the floor. Alex said that he was staying at the Team 10 house for a bit. But he still had to leave my room and go down stairs.
As soon as I led down in knew this would be a long night it was too hot and itchy with these casts on and my hair kept sticking to my face. But finally I was asleep. I dreamt about driving. Then a green light shon in my face. I was in the car on my own and I dreamt about me crashing but this time there was no one there to save me. I woke up screaming. Logan looked up sleepily and asked if I was okay. I cried
He came over and hugged me Alex and Chad came in to see what the screaming was about. Alex sat me up and Logan asked me ehat was wrong I told them about the dream but I told them it was silly. Logan told me to go to sleep.
" I can't sleep" I said it's too hot.
"It's the best thing for you" he said " and anyway I'm so tired I don't know if I can stay awake"
Alex turned to him.
"Look you get some sleep and me and Chad will look after her you look half asleep anyway" Alex said
"OK" He mumbled "but keep her safe"
He led down and just like that he was asleep.
I turned to them.
"I can't sleep" I said.
"Well you have basically slept for a week and a half so I guess we can let you off." Chad said.
I laughed.
Alex bent down so only Chad and I could hear hom
"I guess Chad is right, who wants to go watch some movies, I saw Erika buy a few packs of microwavable popcorn so we're sorted"
" yesssssss" I said.
Chad helped me up and gave me a piggyback downstairs, where Alex made popcorn and put on movie. For some reason it's so hot in the Team 10 house and I was sweating and everything itched.
"You alright" Alex asked. Turning to me.
"Yeah I'm just really hot" I replied.
He gestured for me to come to him. "Come sit in front of me"
I carefully stood up and limped over to where he was sat. I sat down in front of him. And he took my brush off the side table.
"Apparently when your hairs up it cools you down."
I expected him to just plait it or put it in a pony tale, but he put my hair into a halo braid.
"Wow Alex, how did you know how to do that, that's amazing."
" my sister used to do it all the time so I guess I just remembered it."
We're watching maze runner and it has a lot of jump scares which I'm not very good with. I'm sat between Chad and Alex and I'm the only one who jumps at almost everything. We all laugh when I jump, because I basically fly. All our eyes start to get drowsy during the middle of the film and I feel Chad's weight lean against me in sleep. I want to fall asleep but everything hurts.
"You gonna go asleep" Alex asked.
"I'm tired but my leg hurts"
"Wait there" he says and gets up.
He comes back with a box of pain killers and a drink.
He passes me a tablet and a drink and I swallow them both down. He sits on the sofa next to me and pulls a blanket across us all. I wanted to stay up and watch the film but I fall asleep against Alex and he puts his arm round me. Finally at 6 o'clock in the morning we are all asleep on the sofa and there is silence.
