A medieval/ Game of Thrones world

"Hehehe. Come on (c/n)!" I ran through the castle hoping (c/n) couldn't keep up. We were playing tag afterall.

The castle was my home. It belonged to my family of house (l/n). I was just a little kid so I wasn't really involved in al political stuff. I had a few older brothers: Arthur the oldest and Damian the second-born. I also had a younger brother named Rickard and a younger sister named Gwyn.

"Got you!" (C/n) said and we laughed.

~ many years later ~

I was sitting outside watching my brothers fight with swords. Ser Rodin was training them. He said fighting is for men not for weak ladies so he wouldn't even let me touch a sword. But for a while (c/n) taught me how to use a bow and arrow. His father serves our family and (c/n) stepped in his footsteps. While his father is more an adviser (c/n) became the squire.

We are still very close and every night we climb on the roof to watch the stars and just talk. One night I told him I liked to fight just like my brothers but that Ser Rodin wouldn't let me. (C/n) said he could teach me how to use a bow. I was so happy I hugged him and said thank you over and over.

Eventually I grew feelings for him. I never deared to say it though. Afraid I might lose my best friend. Afraid that my parents wouldn't approve.

When we were walking through the town the girls always glared at (c/n). He wouldn't pay much attention but still. I envied them because I could never be with him and they could.

I became bored after watching my brothers fight so I walked to my room, but before I reached it a servant told me to come with her. "My lady. Your parents wish to see you."

I followed till we were in the great hall. My father and mother were standing in the middle of it.

"I something wrong?" I asked them.

"No, actually quite the opposite." Father said and he paused for a moment. "We have found the perfect husband for you. A lord in the east. We've already set an arrangement for you two to meet. He will be here in a few days."

No no no! This can't be happening. I'm not gonna marry some random lord I have never seen!

Mother must have seen the look on my face. "I don't want to hear anything from you. You are going to marry him and that's it!"

I ran out of the great hall into my room. As I lay on my bed with my face in the pillow I heard a knock on the door.

"Go away!" I didn't care who it was. And after that I didn't hear a knock again.

Moments passed and it was already getting darker. I finally decided to get out of bed and walked to the window. Without problem I managed to climb onto the roof. It was quiet around this time, abandoned. Only the crickets made noises. I looked up to the sky and saw hundreds of stars. I quickly found the constellation 'Little Bear'.

A few minutes passed and I heard some noises behind me. I turned around and saw (c/n). He waved at me and said hi.

"Why are you up here so late, (y/n)?" I asked and sat down next to her.

"Oh I just couldn't sleep." She answered but I didn't believe her.

"Is something on your mind?"

"Yes actually." Her answers were short. Did she not want to talk to me?

"You want to talk about it?"

She didn't answer so I stopped pushing her. And so we sat in silence on the roof watching the stars until I heard (y/n) cry softly.

"He, are you alright?" I said as I put my arm around her. She was now crying on my shirt but I didn't care. I waited till she calmed down.

"(C/n)?" She said.

"Yes, I'm here."

"I have to marry someone my parents chose."

I was shocked. I didn't want her to marry someone. I wanted her to marry me... But she probably doesn't want to marry a squire.

After a while we eventually went to our rooms.

~ reader's POV ~

The next morning I woke up by someone knocking on the door. "Yeah, I'm coming!" I got out of my bed slowly and walked towards the door. When I opened it I saw a servant.

"My lady. You need to get ready. The lord will be here today in the afternoon." She excused herself and walked away.

I got dressed and went to the dining room for breakfast. I was very hungry because I didn't have dinner yesterday.

After I had eaten I went outside. I didn't really feel like helping with the decorations for the guests. My mom wanted everything to be perfect and my dad just wanted to have enough wine. Arthur and Gwyn were helping. Damian was god knows where. Probably training or something.

I went to the stables and saw (c/n). He was cleaning up but stopped to greet me.

"Hi, (y/n)." He said with a smile. "How are you doing?"

"I'm fine now. Thanks for asking. I wanted to go for a ride."

"Shall I join you?"

"I actually wanted to go on my own."

"Ah okay, that's allright. I'll just saddle your horse then." His smile disappeared and I felt kinda bad now.

"I just need to think a bit. About all this."

"Yes, I understand." He said as he finished saddling my horse. "You really want to be alone? Even though you are familiar with this area it can still be very dangerous."

"I promise I'll be fine. I'll take my bow with me, allright?"

I left the stables and mounted my horse. With my bow on my back I headed for the gate but was quickly stopped by someone. It was Ser Rodin. I always felt like he didn't like me.

"Where are you going, my lady?" He said with that stupid grin on his face.

"Just going for a ride. Now open this door please."

"What are you gonna do with that bow?"

"That is none of your business, Ser."

"What's all this?" I heard another voice say. It was Damian.

"She is going for a ride. Alone. You approve of this?" Ser Rodin said angrily. "She is just escaping her duty as a lady to marry the lord."

"Watch it, Ser Rodin." Damian said. "Just let her go."

"Alright but it's not my fault if she gets hurt." He said as he opened the gate.

"(Y/n) can defend herself." Damian looked at me and smiled.

"Hahaha pathetic! You probably can't even draw it with your weak arms."

"Oh fuck off!" I said as I rode away. He is such a dick. The only reason he is still here is because he is the best swordsman we have.

I had been away for a long time now. O could see from the position of the sun that it was already afternoon. That means the lord is almost or already here. I stepped of my horse and sat down against a tree. I don't know what to do.

My horse's neighing broke me out of my thoughts.

"What's wrong, buddy?" I said as I tried to calm him down. It didn't work because a few seconds later he started pulling and the reins snapped. I watch him ran away in the direction of the castle. Good, but what scared him?

I looked around me with my bow now in my hands. "Who's there?" I said almost yelling. I got no answer. I only heard rustling and twigs breaking. It came from every direction.

I was surrounded.

I really don't want to make a 2/3 part story but when I write it just happens to become longer than I wanted it to be...
