He was poor, from a lower class. I was rich, from a higher class. My dad despised him. I loved him. He loved me.
Broken and torn I sat in my room in the middle of London looking out the window. I friggled a bit with the ring my dad gave me. Outside I saw horses pulling chariots with people in it probably from a high class. In the background I saw the factories, including my dad's. The industrial revolution. I hated it.
I wasn't allowed to go into the factory of my dad. One day I did and what I saw was awful. I saw a lot of kids and it was dirty and dangerous. The people were skinny and their clothes were torn.
In the corner I spotted a guy. I asked his name and he said it was (c/n). I introduced myself as (y/n) (l/n) and he got this terrified look on his face. I asked what was wrong and he started shivering. I understood that my father was the cause of his fright.
Once I calmed him down and said I meant no harm we talked for hours and hours. We sat in a corner behind big wooden crates. No one could ever find us here. Of course we talked a bit softer but it wasn't really necessary since the factory noises were loud enough.
I promised I'd come back the very next day and I did. I kept my promise and went to him for over a year. We quickly fell in love.
I came every day and always brought him something. He was always happy, even it was just a loaf of old bread. He was happy to see me and I was happy to see him. But he did feel bad because he couldn't offer me anything.
On one day (c/n) had a present for me. It was on my birthday. He wrapped it in a piece of paper and when I opened it I saw a simple necklace. I could see he made it himself but I didn't care. I thought it was beautiful.
It was also the first day we kissed. I remember feeling butterflies in my belly and his soft lips on mine.
The necklace I wore every single day. I did get a few comments saying that it looked cheap. I didn't pay any attention and just kept wearing it.
Later I noticed (c/n) becoming tired. He was still happy to see me but I saw that he was almost pushed to his limits. He also started to lose weight. I brought him more food but it didn't help.
Eventually he became ill and I thought I'd lose him. I stole medicine from my parents and gave them to him. Miraculously he got better but he was still skinny and tired.
We were still happy to be together but that didn't last long. Eventually my dad found out about us. An older man who worked in the factory told him just to get a bit extra food. My dad immediately brought me home. I couldn't even say goodbye to (c/n).
My dad locked me up in my room but after a few days I managed to escape. I sprinted to the factory and went to our place only to find he wasn't there. I stayed there for hours and went back the next day. Still he didn't show up.
I cried and cried till somebody tapped on my shoulder. It was the old man. He told me my father took him somewhere. He gave me the address and I immediately went there.
When I arrived I found out the address the old man gave me was from the graveyard.
I thought maybe he was still alive and just hiding somewhere here. That wasn't the case. When I got to the graves of the lower people I saw a cheap wooden tombstone with his name engraved in it.
I fell on my knees and cried as much as I had ever done before. I asked him to come back. I asked him to not leave me behind. I asked him to stay with me forever.
I said I loved him. I said goodbye.
