I heard loud noises so I figured that must be the lord. The guards opened the gate and the lord entered. He had around 12 guards who had to protect him during the trip. He was greeted by every member of house (l/n) but (y/n). She still hadn't come back and I started to worry a bit.

The lord of house (l/n) (so (y/n)'s father) gestured me to come. I came closer and when I got to them I bowed to the just arrived lord.

"No need for that." He smiled at me and stretches out his arm to give me a hand. "I'm Alran of house Nayland."

"(C/n) (crush last name), the squire of this house."

(Y/n)'s father lay a hand on my shoulder. "He is also a good family friend."

I smiled and looked back at Alran. "I'll bring your horse to the stables."

I grabbed the reins and led the horse away. Tsk. (Y/n) will definately want to marry him. He is far more handsome, strong and he is a lord while I'm just a simple squire. In the stables I unsaddled the horse and went back to the lords.

"(C/n), did (y/n) tell you where she went? Alran would like to meet her." (Y/n)'s father said.

She still hadn't returned than. "No, my lord. But I might know a place where she could have gone to." I answered. "I'll head there right now."

"I'm coming with." Alran said.

Oh no... Why..?

We quickly saddled our horses and drove away from the town. We headed for the woods not far away. I taught (y/n) there how to fight.

I really hope she is okay. I know she doesn't want to marry Alran but it is nothing like her to just run away. I should have gone with her even though she didn't want me to.

~ reader's POV ~

Everywhere around me I saw wolves. They kept growling and looking at me. And when one charged at me they all did. With my bow I shot one down but it was impossible to defend myself with it. They attacked me all at once but I could only shoot one wolf at the time.

So I stood there in the middle waving around with my arms trying to hit a wolf and screaming. The only chance I had was scaring them of.

Suddenly I felt a sharp pain in my arm. One bit me. Hard. With my other arm I hit it on the face and it released. But a few seconds later another wolf lunched at me from above. I fell on the ground with the wolf on me. It kept biting me and I tried to get it off but I couldn't. I struggled for what seemed like hours until my strength faded away bit by bit. With my last bit of strength I pushed as hard as I could and to my surprise I pushed the wolf off me.

But apparently it wasn't me who did it. It was a guy I had never seen before. I also saw (c/n). He was fighting with the rest of the wolves until they eventually fled. The stranger came to me and looked at my wounds. I was probably covered in blood.

"I'll help you as much as I can." The stranger said with a smile and he ripped of a piece of cloth from his shirt. He wrapped it around the worst bite wound. The one on my arm.

"(Y/n)! Are you alright?!" (C/n) came to me running.

"I guess I'll survive." I said to him.

"We should get you home immediately."

"Yes, I think so too." The stranger said and he picked me up bridal style. I glanced at (c/n) and saw a surprised and sad look on his face.

The stranger put me on his horse and he also mounted it. With his arms around me he hold me tight while still holding the reins. We had to go slow because the bumping of a galopping horse hurt.

"Who are you exactly?" I asked the stranger.

"I'm Alran of house Nayland." I had heard that name before. It was the lord I am supposed to marry. "And you are (y/n). (C/n) has told me a lot about you when we were on our way to find you."

I looked at (c/n) but he just kept looking straight ahead.

After 20 minutes we arrived back at the castle. Of course my parents were very worried. And angry. I went straight to my room and stayed there till it was dark outside. I climbed out of the window onto the roof and just as I had aspected I saw (c/n) watching the night sky.

"Hi." I greeted him with a smile. "Are you okay? You look a bit upset."

"Because I am." He answered.

"Can I help you?" I asked as I sat down beside him.

"No, I already found a solution." He paused for a moment. "Tomorrow I won't be here anymore."

"What do you mean? Are you leaving?" I started getting tears.

"It is just too hard for me you know." He again paused for a few seconds. "Ever since we were kids we were such good friends. Later I started to feel more... And now you are gonna marry that lord. I can't cope with him. He is better in every way that I am. He is stronger, more powerful, he is a lord! What can I offer you? I can't ever buy you a ring." A tear rolled down his face. "I have to leave because I-I... I..."

"I love you." I said and I kissed him. "Just being with you is enough for me."

Thr next morning I woke up in (c/n)'s arms. His smell filled the air. When I opened my eyes I saw a letter laying on the ground in front of the door. I stepped out of the bed trying not to wake (c/n). I got to the letter and started reading it.

Dear (y/n),

I am so sorry I overheard your conversation last night. I couldn't sleep so walked around outside hoping I could clear my mind.

Now that you read this letter I have already left the castle heading back to my home. To my secret love.

I wish you and (c/n) all the best and hope I can come to your wedding.

Yours sincerely,

Alran of house Nayland

"Wish you all the best too." I whispered. I clinbed back into my bed lying next to (c/n) and thinking I could wake up next to him every following moring.
