This house has decoration
That doesn't belong to me
It was chosen by other people
Without regard to me
They don't care what I like
Or how I feel
They'll tear down the walls of my home
If it suited them
And injured me
They don't understand
Their place is not the place for me
Asymmetrical symmetry
Of who I am and who they see
It ticks like a clock
Striking twelve repeatedly
The disguise I wear
Isn't the one I want to keep
It hides who I am
Even from me
Why do they care?
It's not like they'd ever have to know
But that's a lie
That I know
Why do they hate?
I hurt no one,
But my hurt never goes
If I was any less human
A monster seeking prey
I'd agree with their words
To lock me away
But I just want to be
Live like any other
And I have to fight to have my way
This house has decoration
That doesn't belong to me
And I will throw them away

So I began writing this after Trump's attempt to ban transgender individuals from serving in the military. I know I don't have any idea of the struggle these individuals face but I wrote this as best as I could, if only to show my support of their rights. Comments are much appreciated; let me know if I did this right :)
