                                                             CHAPTER 6

For the first time, there was no choice. It would be the smartest move to obey and keep still while the attacker is still quite sane, but it wasn’t like Rosalie. Using this misfortune as a challenge, she had a plan to carry out, the one that doesn’t involve her being the victim.

She could smell leather combined with sweat, but it was enough to predict it was a male, and someone higher since he cast a shadow. To escape his sword, she either had to find a way to trick him or move aside fast enough to grab his neck with her left hand in the same time. Even though both options seemed like an impossible mission, it was still better than doing nothing.

Mustering all her energy and strength, she spun away from the sword, feeling it nicked the skin, but not too deep. In a split of a second, she grabbed the man’s throat and pushed him to the ground, kicking behind his knee to make it faster. A groan escaped from his lips, but she showed no mercy, at least until she knew the reason he threatened her.

His curly blonde hair flashed as he tried to whip around and take control, but it only made her hold tighter. Trashing in her arms, he gave up, his sword forgotten on the ground. She hadn’t noticed she was holding his whole torso while pinning him to the ground, and was partly fascinated by her success.

                ‘’Who are you?’’, she insisted.

The man, around twenty five years old, stilled in her hands, but still had an indifferent expression. Lines of his strong jaw showed as he clenched his teeth, silent. If he wanted to, he could reverse the roles, but was too tired to fight. After a long walk in the woods, he’d give much just for a bed and some food. That, however, was just a wish.

‘’Speak.’’ Rosalie was a tempered bomb, ready to explode in any second. This time, he decided to grace her with his deep masculine voice.

                ‘’Darius.’’

Just as she got her hopes up, they died when he only spoke his name. She was intrigued by his mysterious behavior, he didn’t seem to be an assassin or someone with bad intentions. Hesitating, she released him from her hold and quickly grabbed the sword, just in case she was wrong. To her advantage, he kept still, standing up and turning around to face her.

Now, she could see him whole and was quite surprised at the sight. He looked much tougher and bulkier than any man she knew, which affirmed that he really meant no harm, otherwise he wouldn’t submit to her at the first place. There was no way she could’ve overpowered him without getting hurt.

There was something similar with Caleb, but she couldn’t figure out what. They both had blond hair, but it was the face she was interested in.

‘’I do not know where you came from, but staring is considered quite rude.’’

Her mouth opened and closed, she didn’t know how to respond.

‘’I do not know where you come from, but attacking someone without any reason is even worse.’’

The only reply she got was a smirk, but she fell for it even though she didn’t want to admit. The muscles in his arms twitched as he extended his arm, not taking his eyes off of hers. Not intimidated by his amused glare, she took a step forward.
