                                                                        CHAPTER 7

~Two years later~

‘’Hurry up, sweetheart, or we’ll end up fighting in dark.’’

Rosalie huffed at her brother’s smirk. They were walking away from the village to find a suitable place to start a fight. It’s been a while since they left the Kingdom, and it was perfect time to plan revenge. With hesitation, Andrew agreed to help train his sister, although she worked most of the time with Darius. They took some time building the dummies, sacs and weapons to practice speed and precision.

Killing people was the last thing on her list, but Rosalie couldn’t find another way. She hoped the men were smart enough not to interfere when she breaks into the kingdom with her own army. Some villagers already joined, getting ready for the battle. For now, she had around two hundred people from all around the forest, and the number kept growing.

A while ago, while training with Darius out on the field, she stumbled upon a small group of women she recognized from before. They were starved, thirsty and wandered without direction, yet refused their help, saying how Alexander will change his mind soon. That day never came and Rose didn’t even want to think what happened to those women.

May grew up into a girl and started behaving quite mature. They didn’t notice it since they spent a lot of time together, but the other villagers were quite surprised. Andrew and Darius kept the boys away, making her frustrated, but at the same time relieved. She kept a small dagger Alex had given her when she left under her bed, afraid Rose will take it away from her.

                ‘’Why are you so quiet?’’

‘’I’m just thinking of how time passed so quickly. Just look at May, she’s not the small helpless child anymore.’’

Rosalie hopped over the large chunks of chopped trees, her feet digging into the mud under it.

‘’She has a crush on that Lucas boy, he lives near the river. Yesterday, she even wanted to sneak out of the house.’’, Andrew said, chuckling.

‘’Oh, come on, she’s thirteen years old. Everything she thinks about are boys and flowers right now.’’, she explained, recalling her own past.

They came to a clearing, relieved. Rosalie felt her heart thumping rapidly, she was exhausted from walking for so long. It kept her physical condition good, but sometimes they had to waste the whole day trying to find a good spot. There was no way they could remember the previous one, the paths were very confusing and felt like a labyrinth.

‘’The middle of the field is our starting point,’’ Andrew said while marking the square borders with a stick digging into ground, ’’the first one to cross the border is out.’’

‘’Fine by me.’’ Rosalie threw her sack to the ground and pulled out their weapons. They fought with real knives, spears and wooden sticks with sharp edges. Most of their spare time was used to create unique weapons that were very effective and could be useful for both attack and defence.

The sun passed the midpoint of the sky, signaling it was afternoon. She felt hot in her clothes and squinted against the sun, already pointing out a weakness. They took their fighting stance, not wasting time at all.
