As the events from yesterday ran through my head, I couldn't stop them. Work was another slow day, tomorrow was Saturday, which meant I still had to go get a dress for the ball Monday.
My phone started ringing, making my pocket light up. I walked back into the break room. My sisters name was on the screen, so I pushed answer.
"Hello?" I asked into the phone. I heard a quiet shiver and then her voice.
"Can I come stay with you for a couple days?" She asked. I sighed and smiled softly to myself.
"What happened this time?" I asked her. She breathed heavily.
"I'll tell you when I get there tonight." She whispered. She seemed more on edge, so I decided quickly.
"Alright, I'll see you tonight." I told her as the went dead, making me know something was up. The tone she used was what she always did when we were younger and she did something wrong.
As the day ended at work, I headed to a dress shop. All the dresses were beautiful but one blue dress caught my eye, making me want it.
I walked to it, checked the size then the price. It was the perfect fit. I took it off the rack.
The register was across the room. Oh my god, more walking. As I walked to the front, I grabbed the money out of my purse.
The woman scanned the dress and I paid her. She smiled at me.
"Keep the change." She looked at me shocked but I just walked out the door with my bag. I saw my door unlocked, and walked in remembering Shelby had a key.
After closing the door, the smell of rusted metal hit my nose. I walked into the living room, finding the 30 year old brunette sitting on the couch.
"Are you on your period or something?" I asked jokingly as I opened a window. She finally looked up at me, sadness all over her face.
She stood up and removed her coat showing her shirt, her favorite shirt was covered in dark liquid, it was red. Then the metal smell hit my nose again.
The liquid was a familiar scent. Blood.
"Shelby what happened?!" I asked panicked and grabbed her a clean pair of clothes. She looked into my eyes as a tear fell down her cheek.
"I killed him."
