ANNIE'S POV
I walked past Caleb and went inside. A few seconds later, my mom walked into the room. We made eye contact immediately.
A-Is t-this why?
I showed her my cuts and bruises. She stood there in shock for a minute.
AM-Annie, I'm so sorry.
A-Please just answer my question.
AM-Yes, this is why.
A-Why did you leave me with him?
AM-I had no idea he would do it to you!
A-It's like you don't even care about me anymore! You're not the same as you were before you left!
I couldn't take it anymore. I left the house. How could she not think to warn me? Hayden followed me outside and wrapped his arms around me. I stood there crying into his shoulder for a few minutes. Eventually, we got into Hayden's car and drove back to his house. When we got there, we went straight to Hayden's room.
A-Hayden?
H-Yes?
A-I need you to promise me one thing.
H-Of course! What is it?
A-Promise you won't leave me. You're all I have left. I can't lose you.
H-I promise. I'd never leave you.
I could barely sleep that night. All I could think about was everything that happened and how I'd have to face so many other people at school tomorrow. I wish things weren't like this.
