🌊The smell of cooking bacon and fried eggs drifted through the house. The sound of Vic's quiet singing made Kellin smile as he rushed to get Liam ready for school. Rowan was watching Vic cook, Copeland sat in her highchair next to the table.
"Are you not having breakfast?"
"I've got to get the kids ready."
"Well, were do they need to be?"
"C-Cope and Row's nursery is over on Shapinsay and Lee needs to be dropped at the primary in town."
"Okay, the primary is about five minutes away so I'll walk him over when he's had something to eat. How long until the little ones need to be at nursery?"
"An hour."
"Then you've got half and hour until you need to leave. Sit down and have some breakfast." Kellin rolled his eyes, smiling as Vic served up the food. He pulled a chair out for Liam and sat down himself.
"Are you not eating?" Kellin frowned as Vic failed to sit at the table with him.
"I will. I'm just sorting a bottle for Cope." Kellin groaned, running a hand over his face.
"I-I'll get it for her, I'm her dad, I can't believe I forgot!" Kellin spoke up, pushing his chair out.
"Kells, it's fine, I've got it sorted." Vic smiled, heating up a bottle of milk for Copeland. "Tell me more about your siblings."
"Okay, well, Dev, Harper and Hudson are my half siblings, Dev and Hudson have Mom's last name and Harper has her dad's. Dev's thirteen now and Hudson's fourteen. Harper's ten. I haven't seen them in about five years but they'll probably be at Dad's funeral. None of them have met my kids yet, other than Kai, but hopefully with Mom and Dad's disputes put to one side I'll be able to have a relationship with them, it'll be great for Coco to have a relationship with her aunts and uncles." Vic nodded, sitting down to eat once he was sure Copeland wouldn't throw the bottle across his kitchen.
"Do you know when the funeral is?"
"Next Saturday."
"Are you taking the kids or do you want me to watch them for you?"
"I'll take them, I think it's important."
"Of course."
"A-actually I was wondering if you could come with me. For moral support."
"Yea, whatever you need." Vic smiled, putting Copeland's bottle to the side once he saw she had finished drinking. "Okay, you need to go, what time are you getting back?"
"Well, my shift ends at two but I need to go and see the solicitor in town to talk about Dad's will."
"Okay, um, what time do the kids get off school? I'll talk to Mike and see if I can get off to pick them up if you need me to."
"Liam needs to be picked up at three and Copeland and Row anytime before six." Vic nodded, picking Kellin's phone up from the table.
"What are you doing?" Kellin laughed, trying to see his phone screen.
"Putting my number in. Can you unlock it?" Kellin giggled, putting his password in and handing his phone back to the taller boy. Vic smiled, adding his contact in as 'Viccy' with four heart emojis. Kellin laughed, taking his phone back and adding Vic's contact to his favourites.
"Okay, now I really need to go! Thank you, so much. I'll see you later." Kellin smiled, standing up and moving round the table. He pressed a kiss to Liam's head and picked Copeland up from her chair. "Can you hold her for about five seconds so I can put her pushchair together?" Vic nodded, standing up and taking Cope from Kellin's arms.
"Do you want the car? It's quite a walk to the harbour anyway and you've got to get across to work as well."
"Does the ferry even take cars?"
"Only about five but you should be fine this early."
"Okay, thank you." Vic grabbed his keys from next to the door and handed them to Kellin.
"You've got a license, right?"
"Of course."
"Good, be careful with my baby." Kellin smiled, taking Copeland back into his arms and holding a hand out for Rowan.
"See you later, Vic."
"Text me if you need me to pick up the kids."
"Will do." Kellin smiled, pressing a kiss to Vic's cheek before quickly leaving the house and shutting the door behind him.
"Did Daddy kiss you?" Liam spoke up from the table.
"He did." Vic smiled, turning to the small boy in the kitchen.
"Oh." He mumbled, putting his fork down. "Can I have a cookie before school?"
"Sure thing, bud." Vic smiled, walking back into the kitchen.
