Kellin smiled and brushed his hair behind his ear. He watched as Vic hooked a piece of onto bait onto his fishing rod. Vic flicked the line so the float was bobbing on the water. The younger boy uncrossed his legs and slipped his shoes off, letting his toes dip into the water.

"Is that not cold?" Kellin shrugged, fiddling with the bottom of his sweater. A tug on the line forced Vic's gaze away from the younger boy. He reeled the line in, pulling the fish off the hook and putting it in the cool box. "That should be enough for dinner, Dad and Mike'll gut them for us." Kellin nodded, slowly lifting his painted toes from the water. He put his black slip-on shoes back on and smiled slightly at Vic. The hispanic boy took Kellin's small hand in his own. "The path down to the dock gets real slippy." He mumbled quickly, really just wanting to hold the pretty boy's hand.

"It looks pretty fine to me." Kellin muttered, looking around at the dry grass surrounding the small river Vic had brought him fishing at.

"Always does." Kellin giggled, looking down at his pale hand in Vic's tan one, his chipping nail polish catching his eye. "Tell me what's wrong." Vic's voice was gentle, the boy keeping his gaze on the loose pebble path in front of them.

"M-my dad's dying, Vic, I earn minimum wage and I'm scared for my babies, I don't think I'll be able to afford the house once he dies. And Liam started asking about his mom." Vic frowned, rubbing his thumb against the back of Kellin's hand in an attempt to sooth the younger boy without just putting the cooler down and hugging him.

"What did you tell him?"

"Th-that she had to go a long way away and she wasn't allowed to visit but that I love him and Rowan so, so much." Kellin sighed, squeezing Vic's hand slightly.

"You're an incredible dad, Kells. And if you ever need me you know where I am." Vic mumbled, putting the cooler down so he could hold onto the wall while he dropped onto the street below. Kellin passed the cooler down, still standing on the grass at the top of the concrete ledge. "Okay, you can sit on the wall and drop down or I'll lift you." The top of the wall was almost as tall as Vic causing Kellin to shake slightly as he sat down. Vic leant down, checking on the contents of the cooler.

"Vic..." The younger boy almost whispered, pressing his legs together as an overwhelming anxiety spread over him. As soon as the older boy stood up Kellin had a tight grip on his shoulder.

"Hey, hey, I got you, don't worry." Vic cooed, wrapping his arms around Kellin's waist. He lifted the small boy down to the street, keeping one arm around him. "Come on, let's get this to Dad's so we can have dinner." Kellin nodded, trying his hardest to ignore the flutter in his chest with the feeling of Vic's hand on his waist.
