🌊

Seven o'clock in the morning. Light rain showered the dock. Kellin pushed the double stroller down the concrete path, Rowan asleep on one side and Copeland's carrier clipped to the other. He smiled slightly as his baby gurgled and made grabby hands at him. He let her hold onto his finger, smiling.

Liam was pulling his Spiderman suitcase next to him, holding onto the stroller with one hand per his dad's request. Rowan and Copeland's small suitcases were in the bottom of the stroller, Kellin's own in the form of two backpacks: one on his back and one in the bottom of the stroller.

The first ferry from Kirkwall had just docked when Kellin arrived. Jaime was out the front selling tickets for the journey across.

"Kellin? Why are you heading over there at this time in the morning?" Jaime questioned, a frown set in his features.

"F-family emergency, I need to see Vic."

"Oh, of course, his dad's up front, take the kids up there and he'll sort you guys out."

"I-I need to pay."

"No you don't, get on." Kellin shot him a small smile, boarding the boat and walking up to the control room.

A sharp knock on the door grabbed Vic's attention. It wasn't often people called in at half past seven in the morning. He opened the door, eyes instantly meeting with a shaking Kellin. His attention soon switched to the stroller in front of him and the small boy holding onto his leg.

"I-I'm sorry- I didn't know where else to go." The younger boy's voice wavered, tears welling up in his eyes.

"It's okay, it's okay, come in." Vic spoke quickly, rushing to get them out of the cold. Rowan had woken up on the boat journey but stayed silent, holding Copeland's hand the entire journey. "Do they want to go back to sleep or have breakfast, I can do either."

"If you have a spare bed they could all go for a quick nap." Vic nodded quickly, shutting the front door and leading them up to one of his spare rooms.

"I'm sure the boys can share the bed but what about Copeland?"

"I brought her fold-away crib, it's okay." Kellin smiled slightly, setting the crib up before putting all three kids to bed. Vic led Kellin back to the front room, bringing him to sit on the couch. He held Kellin's hands, letting his eyes scan the younger boy's tear stained face.

"What's happened?" Kellin's hands shook, holding onto Vic's like his life depended on it.

"I-I found my dad last night. I can't be in that house anymore, especially not with my kids."

"Oh, Kells." Vic sighed, cupping the younger boy's cheek with one hand and wiping away his tears. "I'm gonna do everything in my power to help you. I've got two spare rooms, you can stay as long as you want. We can sort out a room for the boys and everything."

Gentle tears rolling down cheeks. Arms wrapped around each other in a tight embrace. Tan hands running through dark hair, soothing the pale boy as his head leant against the older boy's shoulder. Vic brought Kellin to sit in his lap, his arms tight around the small boy's waist.

"I-I'm sorry. Th-Thank you, for everything." Kellin mumbled, arms around Vic's neck and head against his collar bone. A peaceful silence feel over them and Kellin had a chance to think. His kids were asleep in a safe place and he had Vic going out of his way to help. He finally knew everything was going to be okay.
