🌊

Moonlight bounced off the waves. Gentle ripples of water lapped against the side of the harbour. Small particles of sand littered the white foam blanketing the sea. Kellin had a tight grip on the side of the boat, not used to being off solid ground.

"So. You're clearly not from around here."

"N-no. Um, Oregon." Vic nodded, smiling slightly as he started the engine of his small motor boat.

"Mikes, Hime and I are from Cali, Tone's from Tijuana but has lived here with Mike for nearly a year."

"H-how old are you guys?"

"I'm twenty two, Jaime's twenty four, Tony'll be nineteen in three weeks and Mike's seventeen."

"I'm nineteen." Kellin spoke with no stutter. Vic smiled, leaning against the steering wheel of the boat. "W-why are you smiling?"

"You didn't stutter."

"Oh. I-it's a nervous thing."

"It's cute."  Vic grinned as Kellin blushed.

"S-so why did you guys move out here?"

"Well Jaime lived down the street from us in Cali, his mom was seriously ill and when she died he moved in with us as he had no other family and we were practically brothers. After a few months he was still seriously depressed and we decided moving out here to start fresh was the best thing for all of us. At this point Mikes and Tony had been dating for about a year and had met a couple of times in real life, as soon as Tony was able to he moved out here and bought a house on the island. Him and Mikes live there, Jaime lives right by the harbour next to my dad and I've got a little cottage on the outskirts of town." Kellin was frozen, watching Vic talking almost hypnotising him. Vic smirked, pretending not to have noticed. "What about you?"

"Oh, um. My ex-girlfriend left me with her three kids, only one of which is actually mine. My dad decided we should move somewhere small to raise them. I don't know, he thinks it'll make them nicer kids." Kellin laughed, finding his dad's idea completely ridiculous.

"Hold up. You're nineteen and have three kids?"

"Liam, the oldest, is four, Rowan is just over two and Copeland, my babygirl, is nearly one. Liam and Rowan are Katelynne's ex's but I love them like my own."

"And you manage them all on your own?"

"W-well, with my dad's help." Vic shook his head.

"Wow." He mumbled, turning the boat into Shapinsay harbour. Vic switched off the engine and stood to help Kellin off the boat. His hands rested on the smaller boy's hips as he stepped onto the wooden platform. Kellin smiled at him as he was stood on dry land once again, listening to the waves hitting the sand. "Anyway. It's been awesome talking to you, I can pick you up from here at, like, eight am tomorrow if you want to come hang out with the guys for the day?"

"Th-that would be lovely, thank you, Vic."

"See you later.."

"Kellin."

"See you later, Kells." Kellin blushed and nodded, walking out of the harbour as the sound of Vic's motor boat echoed through the night.
