"So, how's your dad doing?" Ethan questioned.
"He's doing well. His knee replacement surgery went well, and it will take him some time to recover, but he'll be back to work soon. By the way, thank you for coming to the hospital the other night, he really appreciated it."
"Of course. If he ever needs something, just tell me. I'll help." And he looked down at his bowl to avoid eye contact.
"Thanks. I'll be sure to tell him that."
A tall, scrawny lady started walking over to us. My gosh, her pure, blonde locks were beautiful. Curled slightly, in a half ponytail. I then started to get my wallet out.
"I got it." Ethan stated.
"Please, it's nothing really."
"Mia, I got it." He said with a sincere lip curl.
"Okay, thank you."
I never liked people paying for me. It makes me feel guilty. Before he could get out his wallet, the lady hops in front of our booth. She reached for a pen.
"Hello everybody, was everything to your liking?" She said an over-excited tone. Her teeth were pearly white. I liked her.
"Yes, thanks." Ethan said as he placed a 20 dollar bill in the large wallet she had handed us. After he had signed the bill, he put a 5 dollar bill under the wallet for her. She grinned wholeheartedly.
"Thank you, sir. Have a wonderful day and thank you for coming to Smoothie Palace. Hope to see you soon!"
And then she turned away and walked back to behind the counter. I had gotten a quick glance of her name tag and I believe it was Macy or Mary. Couldn't quite make it out. Ethan began to stand and stretch.
"Come on, let's go."
"Ok."
