Next time I woke up, it was dark out. I was curious as to what time it was, maybe 11 pm? I checked the phone under the bed and it said 2 am. Wow.
I stood up and felt a sharp pain in the back of my head. I couldn't remember anything that happened last night. I sat on the bed and pondered trying to spark a memory, but it was interrupted with sirens.
Sirens. Cops. The school must've notified the authorities. That's right. I tried to stand up but I couldn't, and ended up laying down again. I forced myself up as I stumbled, almost falling, until the man barged into my room.
Grabbing my arm tightly, he yelled "Get in the basement."
I didn't know we had a basement. He shoved me into it down the hallway, and then Ethan piled on top of me. I scooted close to him and asked him what was happening.
"The bad guys are here." He responded.
It took me a while to realize that was odd because my mind was so unfocused and fuzzy. I scooted farther from him when I realized that he was gone again.
I began to hear footsteps in the house and the front door shut. I stood up and Ethan didn't say anything, so I walked out of the room.
I thought it would be locked, but it wasn't. I walked up the few stairs and into the kitchen where the police and man were.
There was one woman and one man. The woman was tall and as thin as a twig. She towered with her long, straight, black hair and tan skin. Th man stood broad shouldered and short. Although he was stocky, he looked a little chubby. He had glasses on, too. When I walked in all heads turned towards me.
"Hello, who are you?" The woman asked me.
"Um,"
"Um?"
What is my name? I couldn't remember.
"What are you doing here? Do you live here?"
I didn't respond.
"She's my daughter, Elena. She just had surgery and is a little loopy. Sorry she bothered us. Honey you should go back to bed and rest." The man jumped in.
"I thought you were home alone?" The woman asked him.
"I was, but I forgot about her, she's been in her room all day."
There was silence.
"Sweetie, you don't mind if I talk to you do you?"
I nodded my head no.
As the man stared at me, she starting walking towards me and heading towards my room with my hand in hers.
