There was no light when I woke up. I remember nothing after me taking the phone out of Ethan's pocket. It was all a blur. Phone. I still have it, unless the man took it. I frantically checked my back pocket, but felt nothing.
Great. Then I saw a reflection when I turned on the rooms light peering from under the bed. It was the phone! I picked it up and decided to hide it, just in case. I looked all around, but there was nothing to hide it in. I lied on my stomach, and saw a tear under the bed's box springs. I slid half way under the bed and threw the phone back there. It was safe.
"What are you doing down there?" I heard, and froze for a second, then acted like I was shuffling around for something.
"Just looking for my earring. I can't find it." I lied.
"Oh sweetie, it's ok. It's time for breakfast now. Come out here when you're ready." He requested.
I nodded and watched as he left the room. I thought about how today was Sunday, because we were taken Saturday, and it's morning. Monday is the first day of the last week of school! The school would notify our parents if we missed the whole week and we would have people searching for us. Unless they didn't care because it was the last week of school and that's expected. But our parents were still probably looking for us right now. Maybe I could text them? No, 911 before them if we get the chance.
Then I remembered, if we called 911, what would we tell them? "Yeah, we got kidnapped." "Where are you right now?" "I don't know, but come find me!" It doesn't work like that. I tried remembering all signs I had seen on our little escape attempt, but couldn't remember any, or at least what they said. I guess we'll just have to explain the area and log cabin a few miles from Fuel Stop.
"Ready to eat?"
"Yes, I'm coming."
