Deyan lay shaking uncontrollably on the cold stone floor.  His entire world had been been turned upside down in one single day; his sister was an assassin and he felt he was the reason for their deaths. If he had just died sooner all those people would still be alive, how could he not feel guilty. Anka lay opposite him in the vile cell her eyes blood shot from crying hysterically. He wanted to help her, to tell her it was ok but how could he when he didn't even think it would be? And Nadia, what was he supposed to do about Nadia? He loved her and he knew that he always would because she was his sister but did he have to like her? It broke his heart to even think about it but he wasn't sure that he did like her. She had lied to him for nearly a year and whatever excuse she made up about doing it to protect him, she had still betrayed him. She had still manipulated the truth so she could kill people, people who had families and children! He knew that he would never truly forgive her but he could try to love her, after all she is his own flesh and blood.

"Deyan...Deyan are you alright? Did they hurt you?" Aka said, pushing herself up helplessly to lean against the grubby wall which was covered in rotting grime. Deyan instantly felt better at  the sound of his mothers hoarse voice. He forced a fake smile on his pale face.

"Mother, I'm fine but are you, you look awfully ill." Deyan replied, the fear in his voice shining through no matter how much he tried to hide it. Anka smiled helplessly, her eyes brimming with tears.

"No don't worry about me my love, I shall be fine." Anka said through the tears. Deyan wanted more than anything to hold her but he was barely strong enough to breath, let alone move. Then he remembered. Nadia.

"Nadia is up there on her own with that horrible man mother! She may be in danger." Deyan said before instantly regreting it as he could see by the look on Anka's face that she did not want to talk about Nadia.

"She has done terrible things Deyan, things that corrupt one's soul." Anka said harshly.Deyan looked her in the eyes. Was she saying that Nadia didn't have a soul? Deyan thought.

"Mother don't say things like that! I love Nadia and I always will, no matter what she has done." Deyan said in a firm tone. Anka looked at him peculiarly.

"But she has killed people Deyan! I'll bet anything that she killed Barron aswell, a man who trusted our family! She has put shame on our family Deyan, does family mean nothing to you?"

"It means everything to me mother! It means working through the hard times together, it means trust, it means loving eachother forever and always!" Deyan said, almost shouting at his mother. Anka's faced automatically softened and she smiled pathetically.

"Oh Deyan..." Anka said before tugging herself across the freezing floor towards Deyan. She put in every once of energy she had to get to her son. When she reached him, she cupped his slim face between her hand and gently stroked her thumb just under his eye to calm him. She then wrapped her arms around him in a warm embrace.

"I love you my baby Deyan, no matter what happens to us hold onto that. Your all I have left..." Anka said clinging gently onto her son as if he were her life. Deyan gave in and let the tears roll.

"I love you too mother, forever and always."Deyan said rubbing his face in his mothers arm and for that single moment he felt safe. He felt safe with his family, forever and always.
