Jesse didn't know why Ethan had taken a liking to her.
Not that I'm all that concerned, she decided, strolling along beside him as they left the convention hall together. Her heart still fluttered every time he laughed. He ran his hands through that electric blue hair, pulling a goofy face.
"You're a quiet one," he said in a silly voice. "You've hardly said anything all day!" Jesse laughed.
"We've only just met," she warned. "I've been told I'm kind of crazy once you get to know me."
"Aha! A challenger!" Ethan gasped, giving the most adorable smile Jesse had ever seen. She couldn't help but laugh back.
"So what's it like being a big YouTuber?" Jesse asked, not daring to let the conversation lag for even a moment.
"Mmm, it's a lot of fun," he grinned. "I mean, I should hope so! I've been doing it for years now." Jesse nodded, content to drink in everything Ethan had to say. "I love the film-making aspect of it- the kind of stuff I'd never get to do in an office job. Oh, Jesse, look up there!"
Jesse shivered when he said her name, a warm feeling shooting all the way to her fingertips. She followed his gaze to a little coffee shop on a street corner.
"I frickin' love the muffins there," Ethan told her. "It's taken me a while to find a place where I know for sure I'm not gonna, y'know-" he put a hand to his throat in a fake force-choke. "Wouldn't want to eat any peanuts by accident. Anyway, you wanna try some with me?"
Jesse's heart soared. "Absolutely," she grinned, fighting the urge not to laugh with joy.
"Mmm, that's great!" Ethan said excitedly, tucking a hand into his pocket. "Imma just text Parker and tell him I've gotta reschedule our recording session later." He looked Jesse dead in the eyes. "I take my muffins very seriously, Jesse."
Jesse laughed as Ethan smiled at her. He pulled his phone out as they reached the crosswalk.
"Paaaarker," he muttered to himself, tapping on the phone. "...reschedule the- aah!" he yelped suddenly, dropping the phone.
"What happened?" Jesse asked, stepping forward as Ethan picked it up gingerly. The screen had gone blue, flashing occasionally with white and black spots.
"It just shocked me!" Ethan yelped, holding the phone at arm's length. "That's... that's never happened before."
"That looks bad," Jesse winced, looking at the screen. "You should to get that looked at as soon as you can."
"N-no," Ethan replied quickly, tucking the phone away. "I mean, yeah. I'll do that."
Jesse frowned at him, but her concern passed. It was his phone, after all. "Hey, Ethan... let's get those muffins, huh?"
"Yes!" Ethan cried with joy, jumping on the change in subject. "To the muffins!"
Jesse laughed, following him quickly across the street. It was a pity about his phone, but she was about to eat lunch with THE CrankGameplays. How lucky was she?
A/N:
Quick explanation- I didn't really mean for this to be a CrankGameplays OC-insert fic - I just needed a character for Ethan to interact with, and it was easier to create someone from thin air than trying to rope another real person into the story. I didn't want this to be a romance-focused fic, either. It's more about Blank and Ethan.
So that's where Jesse came from... I don't really consider her an OC. *shug* Just wanted to explain that much, and give you a heads-up!
Anyway, enjoy!
