“Kellin, it’s only been a couple of days since we’ve moved here and you’ve decided to spend the night into some bar and get wasted? What were you thinking?!” Sam shouted, her voice echoing throughout the entire room. It has been more or less, an hour since I got here in our apartment. Thirty minutes of continuous shouting and lecturing from my girlfriend. I could practically feel my head throbbing from the amount of alcohol that I consumed earlier today and her shouting isn’t helping at all. I couldn’t blame her though. All that she is throwing at me right now are all correct.
“I am so sorry, Sam. I know shouldn’t have done that but I also knew that you were really mad. I didn’t know where else to go and I was driving through the city and the fancy blinking lights of the bar caught my attention and I just-“
“So you’re saying that you were attracted to the pretty lights of the bar? Wow, what an awesome excuse, Kellin.” She sassily shot back. “What would your parents think when they hear about this, huh? You weren’t even thinking about the consequences of you actions!”
Oh, no. She’s right. The last people that I wanted to know about my doings are my parents. Once they hear about this, I bet they’re going to freak out and maybe ask me to go back to our house. I mean, not that I didn’t want to be there. I miss them and I want to spend as much time with them but I think it’s time for me to learn how to stand on my own feet.
“Come on, Sam. Let’s not let my parents know about this please.” I said as I stood and engulfed her into a hug to coo her and attempt to cool off that steaming temper of her's.
“Ugh, you even smell nasty. Go and take a shower and we’ll talk about this later.” She bitterly said and pushed my arms away from her. There was no more point in fighting with her though. When she’s mad, she’s mad. I let out a loud sigh and stomped my way to the bathroom.
Jeez, that was so intense. Almost an hour passed since Sam started lecturing me about going to bars, wasting money and putting my life into risk. She’d probably lose it if I even mention to her about the whole Vic encounter that I had.I turned on the shower, waiting for the water to get to its right temperature when a sudden realization hit me hard.
“Oh no.” I whispered to myself as I remembered about my car. I am such an idiot for forgetting about my car! I remembered parking it in front of the bar last night. I am so messed up.
I hurriedly went under the warm running water and briskly washed myself, dried off and changed into a fresh set of clothes.
I searched for my keys and gladly, they were in my jeans pocket from last night. I grabbed the keys, my phone and wallet as quietly as I could and noiselessly went to the front door of the apartment.
“Where are you going?” Sam asked from behind, startling me with her strict and curious voice.
“Oh, um, I’ll just hmm.. Go to church because it’s Sunday today, church day yeah.” I nervously said. It wasn’t that much of a lie though. Sunday really is church day, so I guess that’s a perfect excuse for her troubled mind.
“Okay, I’ll go with you.” She said and turned back to her room to change, maybe? Okay, calm down, Kellin. I have to plan this smoothly. We’ll go to church, I’ll ask her to go home straight after and she wouldn’t even notice that I left my car in front of some ‘‘devil’s lair’’ as to what she called the bar that I went to.
“Ready to go?” I casually asked when she appeared in the living room.
“Yup, let’s go.” She happily said and went to grab my hand, leading me out of our apartment. We walked all the way to our building’s parking lot. Oh no. What if she asks about my car? And as if on cue, she did asked for it.
