It’s Sunday today and I couldn’t be any more happier. I woke up with my girlfriend clinging on to my arm. It was a pretty adorable sight which sent me those tiny shockwaves that made me adore her even more. She’s perfect and I still couldn’t believe that I am lucky enough to call her mine. I was mindlessly staring at the beautiful scene sleeping soundly until I heard a buzzing sound from the bedside table. As quietly as I could, I turned a little so that I could reach for my phone, not wanting to disturb Sam in her deep slumber.

“Hello?” I quietly said as I answered the call, still careful on not wake Sam up.

“Hey, it’s Vic.” The man from the other line stated. He sounded so casual and it felt like I could see his smug face from across the line. He is up to something. He’s always up to something.

“How did you even get my number in the first place?” I begrudgingly asked after a deep sigh. Seriously, this man needs to know his limits.

“I asked the secretary in the office.” He said as if the answer was so obvious. I rolled my eyes, even though he couldn’t see me for sure. I was kind of irritated at him, to start off. Yesterday, I didn’t have work. I was just waiting for my girlfriend to arrive from work when he decided to spam me with his senseless messages, asking if I was free for the night and that he would treat me as much drinks as I want from his bar. Of course I turned down his offers. To be honest, when I found out that he isn’t straight, I kind of felt uncomfortable and unease. I am not that used to gay people, to be quite frank. I guess I do not have anything against them but still, I grew up with people telling us that being gay is wrong. And now that Vic cleared the air up about his sexuality, I felt so nervous on going back to work tomorrow. Sure, he may be just naturally affectionate, but if he’s doing those kind of actions to another man, it sends a different message to them. Or me.

“Hey, are you still there?” He said in a louder tone, snapping me out from my bothered thoughts.

“Oh, uh yeah. What were you saying?”

“I was asking why didn’t you answer any of my calls last night?” He asked in a somewhat frustrated and annoyed tone. I was scraping my brain for some believable excuse when I felt Sam stir up. She made an adorable sound, her croaky voice echoing the little bedroom as she greeted me good morning. I kissed her forehead and told her that I would just finish my phone call downstairs so that I wouldn’t bother her anymore.

“Who was that?” Vic nosily asked as I reached the living room, slumping down on the couch.

“My girlfriend.” I casually said as I flipped through the numerous envelopes of bills that were pending to be cleared. I let out an involuntary sigh. I can’t wait to get my paycheck. It feels like we’re getting a little bit tight on budget.

“Yeah..” He said and paused for a couple seconds. “So, why didn’t you return any of my calls?” Is he seriously going to push through this conversation?

“I was busy, okay? I’m so sorry, Vic.” I retorted, hoping for him to just drop it and move on. I am getting a little bit more annoyed now.

“Alright, alright. Shit, someone’s a little pissy today, huh?” He said with a chuckle.

“I told you not to curse. You need to learn how to control the words that are spilling out from your mouth. It’s really unpleasant to hear, you know.” I said with a roll of my eyes. I slumped back to the couch and massaged my forehead. It’s really too early for me to be dealing with him.

“Yes, mom, I would keep that in mind.” He shot back sarcastically.

“Hey, I really have to go. You’re just giving me a massive headache.” I muttered that last part, praying to God for Vic not to hear it.
