I walked down the stairs, with my tank clanging againist the stairs loudly, and into the kitchen to get breakfast. Ugh, school. I already feel like I'm going to be that one girl that sits in the back of the room. I grab a banana and look at my watch.

7:12

Class starts at 7:30! I get out the door and start to walk to my high school. I only lived a few minutes away from the school, so why not walk? I drag along my tank and feel it bump on every little crack. I have a feeling this is not gonna be a good day.

I look at the rows of houses and they all look the same. The parents are kissing their kids heads and seeing them leave, the husbands with cups of coffee in their hands and briefcases in the other.

I turn the corner and I get approached by a boy walking behind me. I get startled and he mumbles a 'sorry'. He speeds up, and gets in front of me. I shake it off and continue walking. I soon realize that Australia isn't that different from America. Its got the same blue sky, the same blue water, some of the same animals. I think I will learn to like this place.

A breeze blows over and I shiver. It's August, why is it so cold? Oh its winter here. Its usually summer in California. I rub my hand up and down my arm. I can't wear my usual skater skirts and cardigans if its so cold here in August. I keep walking and I see the flurry of students struggling to get to class.

Today's gonna be fun.

I quickly walk to the cafeteria avoiding the stares and questions. I get into the cafeteria and I sit down at a lonely table. I take out my lunch that my mother packed for me before she left for her new job earlier this morning. I stare at my peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I then look up and look around at everybody laughing, making out and smiling.

It's just you and me, Mr. Sandwich.

I finish my lunch and get out my book. I start reading when suddenly someone sits next to me. I take my eyes off my book and turn my head. It was a Asian looking boy that had a lunch tray in his hands.

"You looked lonely, so I wanted to sit with you. Calum Hood at your service." He had dark hair and tan skin. He also spoke with an Australian accent, figuring out that he was native to this country. He was wearing a pair of black skinny jeans, a leather jacket, and an All Time Low tank top.

"Hello, Mr Calum Hood. My name is Kadee Richard." I stick out my hand and he firmly shakes it.

"So, you new?"

"Yup, I just moved from California."

"California!? Like America!?"

"Yup. My mother moved me here. I still don't understand why." I shrugged.

"Well, I think that you and me can be friends. If that's okay with you."

Really, a friend on the first day!? Maybe this won't be as bad as I thought.

"Really!? That would be great! You don't think I'm weird?" I point to my tank.

He shakes his head.

"Nah, I don't think of you any differently than I would a non-cancer patient." I sighed in relief. I take my attention away from him when another boy walks up with a girl.

"Heyyy Micheal, heyyy Mary." He does a hand shake with Micheal and hugs Mary over the table. Mary intertwines her fingers with Micheal's. I guess they're dating. They're cute together.

"Guys, this Kadee." I give a small smile and they return it.

"And this is Mary and Micheal. They're in loooveee." He drags the last word. Mary shot him a look and Calum puts his hands up in surrender.
