No pov

Days passed, and soon it turned into weeks. Keith had forgotten about the incident after a few days, the thrill of training taking over like it always did. The memory was pushed to the back of his brain and it was like nothing ever happened. Everything was in place. It was only a small knot in the line and easy to untangle, but even a small knot can become something much larger...and it all started with a simple mission. Go in and defend a village under the control of the Galran's. That was where the team went wrong.

Lance pov

"Lance! Left!"
"Lance! Over here!"
"Lance! Above you!"
"Lance! Look out!"

My head started to spin and my team's voices all started to blend into one giant chaotic mess. Shots were being fired and screams could be heard. And to think it gone down so quickly.

The mission started out fine, everything was in order. But then the back-up came. We had expected a few ships as this was a rather small planet, but when more than twenty came, we were suddenly on the loosing side. Villagers ran for safety as I hid behind a broken down hut, peeking around to fire a few shots at the approaching side. It took us about one varga to even things out.

When a cry was heard next to me I usually wouldn't react as screaming was heard all around me, but this wasn't a scream of panic but a scream of pain. I jolted around out of instinct and was met with a little alien caught underneath some rubble. The soldiers were approaching fast, but I couldn't leave them behind. I ran out of my spot from behind the wall and barreled towards the child. This species of aliens had light skin, usually pink or blue, but others had yellow or green. They had sharp eyes, which reminded me of a cat's.

But this specific alien, trapped underneath all of that rubble, I instantly felt connected to it. He reminded me of my little brother, Leo. I dug them out pretty quickly, fed on the image of Leo in the rubble instead, and scooped them up with one hand, the other carrying my Bayard.
"Hey little guy, it's going to be ok, I promise. Nothing is going to hurt you anymore."I said, slightly comforting the shaking child.
"Mama and Papa, where are they!"He cried out, looking up at me with those large deep blue cat eyes.
"Don't worry, I'll find them."I reassured.
I took a quick glance around and realized that we now had the upper hand and what was left of the Galran ships were retreating back. I took that as my clue to get this alien back to his family. So I started to run towards the castle, where most of the Villagers had taken shelter. As I was running I could see the Black Lion and Red Lion fly above us. I had taken Hunk's lion down to the village, so Azul was safe inside of her hangar.

I ran into the castle and finally took the time to examine the child. He was a blue alien and was wearing a dark forest green shirt and brown pants, both caked in dust. He had a small cut on his side and cuts on his legs and hands, but they weren't major. Just then I heard a large cry, almost like a call. The boy was conscious, but most likely in shock. His arms were wrapped around my neck and it looked like he was close to tears. I don't blame him. The call was heard again, but this time the boy heard it to, and he returned the call. A larger form of the boy pushed his way trough the crowd, followed by a slimmer pink alien, and another smaller green alien carried in her arms. The family, I presume, tracked us down pretty quickly, as the boy let go of my neck and ran toward them. The dad instinctively scooping him back up.

The moment was a blissful one. The mom and dad cooing at their child, as the little one made grabby hands at him. I smiled at the seen and made a turn to find the others, when the dad stealth-fully approached me, holding the child.
"Were you the one who saved my son?"He asked.
"Uh, yes, sir."
"Oh, thank you so much! My family and I were running towards the castle when my son, Zulis, got separated from us. I was in such a panic, I wanted to go back, but the crowd just kept pushing, I thought I had lost him forever." He explained, shaking my hands.
"Oh, well, sir, I actually have a little brother back home, your son reminded me of him. I miss him so much." I sadly smiled at him.
"I hope you get back to him soon, he needs a hero to, you know." He kindly offered.
"I'll always be in your dept. Thank you for saving my son for me." Zulis waved good bye at me with his little blue hands and said his thanks, before he and his father was back with their family. I smiled and resumed my search for my team. It ended up taking me to the ship's control deck. Where my team was looking for me as well.

"Lance, where were you? I had gotten really worried, buddy, when you didn't return back to the my lion." Hunk had said, his voice showing concern and fear.
"Yeah, where did you go?" The Gremlin cut in. In her hand was her signature lap top.
"I was helping a family reunite with their kid." I simply responded.
"Well, next time tell us before hand. Don't go acting so recklessly." Allura scolded.
"But I couldn't, the soldiers were getting really close and I had limited time to spare. I couldn't leave the child!"
"Lance, I understand your situation but it shouldn't take to long to contact us." Shiro reminded.
"I'm sure Lance was just trying to act all cool and stuff. You know, like how he always is." Keith scoffed.
I opened my mouth to respond but Coran had already started.
"Now, now children, let's not start."
"Your right Coran. We're trying to teach Lance to call us before jumping into action like that. Lance I'm sure you had time to spare." Allura used her leader voice.
"No, Allura, you don't get it. I didn't have time, and I sure as hell wasn't trying to show off, Keith. That little alien was under some rubble and wasn't able to get out."I glared, trying to justify myself. But the others obviously wasn't going to listen to any of it. Though, maybe Hunk and Coran did.
The others just sighed, minus Hunk and Coran, as Keith started to say something. That's what caused me to snap.
"Lance don't be-"

"Stupid? Or did you guys just want me to leave the kid behind for dead. I'm tired of this reasoning behind everything I do! And you want the reason? I tried to help the kid because he reminded me so much of my family! And that's the thing! I just couldn't leave him behind!" I lashed out. I took a deep breathe and registered their shocked faces. I wasn't sure why I lashed out. Maybe it was because I felt like they were talking about my little brother that caused it, or maybe it was because I had enough of this.

I'm just glad, that was all I exposed. If I didn't force myself to shut up I wasn't sure what else I would accidentally uncover. The team didn't need to know any of my problems. It was bad enough Keith knew. I'm just glad he forgot. But, I'm kinda hurt at the same time. I mean, I don't expect Keith to care much for me, in fact I'm shocked he actually tried to comfort me, but it still stung that he forgot.
Guess who forgot the bonding moment this time. I remember thinking to myself.
"You know what? Forget it, lecture me all you want at a later time. Just leave me alone right now." I turned around and ran towards the only thing I could count as family.

I need to go see Blue.

-----Notes-----Very important-----

Omg! Thanks you guys for 2.24K views! And 215 votes! I'm pretty sure I'm dreaming, but I pinched myself 5 times already and I haven't woken up yet! But thanks to all of you wonderful people for all of the support I can actually find joy in doing this! So thanks again! Take this chapter as an offering!

Ok! I'm not the proudest of the chapter I gotta admit. It's kinda random and out of place but it's also the start of the more important chapters later on! (Foreshadowing!) Also, I'm writing this at 2 am in the morning, my editing skills are being run by caffeine and sugar, not to mention this chapter is 1600+ words. So be free to point out any mistakes! And! I have something else! I have been debating this for awhile now! Should there be Klance once I get more into the characters? Right now I'm barely scraping the top of each character and I haven't fully taken anyone into account so that is why the next few chapters are gong to be crucial for everybody! Vote down below what you guys want! (This voting session ends on whenever the next chapter comes out!)

Should there be Klance?

Yes Klance!

No Klance!

Platonic Klance! (Meaning they become friends and not rivals)

But anyway! Thanks for reading and as usual! Art isn't mine, kudos to the artist!
