Everything is Gray (Langst)

Chapter 17

Lance played with his hands as he sat in one of the castle's old medical room cots.
"...so, what happened? To the castle I mean." He spoke, his voice was still shaky and uneven, but it was better than a few minutes ago.
"Don't know, Shiro and Allura haven't come back yet. They were called away by Pidge while you were still unconscious. All I know is that it's something with the castle's system." Keith shrugged, leaning against a wall, arms crossed over his chest. Lance nodded as he glanced at Keith.
"I'm sorry." Lances eyes widened.
"What?"
"I'm sorry...for everything." Keith said down the wall. He slid one leg out as he hung his arm loosely on the other propped up leg. He lightly hit his head on the wall behind him, a low thump echoed through the room.
"I...gah. I'm sorry ok!"
"...No."
"What? I'm apologizing and you just gonna say no? Lance! What do you want from us?" He threw up his hands in frustration.
"I don't want your apologies. I don't want anything from you. I should be the one apologizing. Hah...all the time I've been going through this and not once did I think...did I think...that maybe...you guys would care. All this time I've been so selfish! You're my teammates! I should've trusted you! But I didn't!" Lance's voices started out small, but go louder as he spoke. He covered his face with his hands, shaking.
"Lance...I shouldn't have raised my voice. Sorry. You're not selfish. If anything, were the one that's selfish." Keith grumbled. "Once the others get here, we'll talk it through." Keith stood up, making his way across the room to Lance. "You're not alone anymore. You have us now, and I know you should've been able to trust us, but you couldn't. I know know I don't say this often, but, I trust ya'll, and I want you to do the same." He rested his hand on top of Lance's. "And I know we've been really shitty teammates, but, that doesn't mean we can't try again...for the hundredth time." They shared a quick laugh. Lance nodded offering his own smile. "Yeah..."

——-W/ Shiro and Allura

The two worked in silence for a bit before finally someone broke it.
"Ah ha! I found it!" Allura shouted in triumph.
"Found what, exactly?" Shiro ask hesitantly.
"The exact moment Lotor shot us!" Allura exclaimed.
"And?"
"Look there. There's a reason why Lotor didn't just shoot us and retreated. He needed it to be at a perfect angle. The virus passed through the castle walls and made a direct path to the castle's control system." Allura explained, drawing a line of the viruses path.
"Oh, I see." Shiro folded his arms over his broad chest.
"Lotor is getting stronger and stronger." Allura mumbled.
"Guys! We did it!" Pidge called as they ran excitedly into the room.
"Congratulations Pidge, Hunk, Coran!" Allura smiled. Shiro pat Hunk and his back and ruffled Pidhes hair.
"We knew you could do it." Shiro grinned in pride.
"How did you manage to do it?" Allura questioned.
"Well, you see-" Coran starts before Pidge tackles him.
"Not right now Coran! How's Lance?"
"Yeah! How is he? Don't tell me he's..." Hunk gasps.
"No, no, no! Keith's with him right now. He's awake and alert, but, he's going through more then what we thought." Shiro ran a hand over his face.
"Can we go...see him?" Hunk asked after a long period of silence. The paused video of Lotor's virus forgotten.
"Yes! That's a good idea!" Coran straightened up, before leading the group out of the room. Even though Coran looked fine on the outside, the closer they got to the room the older he looked. Lance was like Coran's son. After losing his own biological one to the destruction of his planet, Lance was the closest thing to a son he had left. The group paused outside the door, each one taking a deep breathe.

——-Everyone

The door slid open and the silence enveloped them. The first one to talk was Lance. "Hey...Guys." He waved a shaky hand. Keith took a step to the side. They all entered the room as the door slid shut behind them. Then, Hunk and Pidge flung themselves at Lance. Tears and shouts of "Lance" bounced off the cold castle's wall. Lance was crushed in Hunk's bear hug and Pidge's bony elbows were digging into his side, but he didn't care. He laughed loudly before hugging them both back to the best of his abilities.
"Lance buddy! I'm so sorry! Please don't scare us like that again!" Hunk cried, large alligator tears streaming down his face. Pidge sniffled, burying their face deeper into Lance's chest.
"I'm sorry guys...but I think I'm ready to talk now...yeah...I'm ready to talk now..."
"We're listening Lance. Now more than ever." Allura laid a tan hand on Lance's shoulder. Coran nodded from behind her, making sounds of agreement.

After Hunk and Pidge were peeled away from Lance everyone finally settled. Shiro and Coran stood by the door, Allura sat in a chair, legs crossed and looking attentive. Keith was back leaning against the wall again, arms crossed. Hunk and Pidge both made themselves comfortable on Lance's small medical cot, creating a cuddle pile.

"...I should probably start huh? I just want to say..."

And Chapter 17 comes a close! This chapter was shorter then average, but I'll try to make the next chapter longer! Thank you so much for sticking with me for this long! And omg! We're #2 in the Lance divison! Thank you so so so much! You guys are everything to me! And I feel like I don't say this enough but I love you guys so much! Thank you thank you thank you!
We only have ONE more chapter left! One! I can't believe it! I've enjoyed writing this for you guys and despite my terrible schedule and writing you guys have stuck with me for this long! I just want to say thank you! Again! I'm hyped for the last season of Voltron and although I'm gonna be sad that it's ending, I feel like it's an accomplishment. Anyways! I hope the have the chapter out before the last season (December 14). But you guys know I'm terrible with timing so we'll see how it'll go! 😅
