Chapter 9

Allura pov

"I'm sure those terms will be fine?"
"Of course, princess, we owe you everything. You have released us of the chains we thought were eternal. We shall forever be your loyal ally."
"I only hope we can come to you in our fight against Zarkon and now Lotor."
"Princess Allura of Altea, you can put your trust in us."
"I'll see you to it."
The meeting with the village chief had gone great. It was just Coran, Shiro, and I for this meeting, but I understand that the paladins must be tired and resting for their next battle against Zarkon and now Lotor. Lotor coming into power was a great shock to us all, especially me. After all these years, he was still alive. It shouldn't have been possible, but with the witch Haggar... nothing is impossible with quintessence. The sudden attack had taken the lives of many, but I know that in the future the number will grow if we don't stop his reign and this war.

I stepped into the control room, and I immediately got to work. It felt like forever until I heard someone walking through the control room doors as well. Turning around, I was met with the shocked face of Lance. His jacket hood up and his hands hidden in his pockets.
"Oh, I didn't know anyone was going to be in here. I'll leave so you can do your work." He turned on his heals, saluted, and spun around, stuffing his hands back into the jacket's pockets.
"Did you need something? I'm not to busy right now." I called. He stopped and looked back, and I swear on Altea I saw something flash across his clear, blue eyes. Some of the paladins compared it to an 'ocean', a large mass of blue water covering most of their planet. Apparently, it's also filled with salt, a mineral good for the human body, but not if it's consumed in large amounts, and it's also supposedly filled with various life forms.
"Oh...ok." He walked across the room and sat down in his seat before pulling something up.
"What are you looking at?" I asked.
"Oh. I was looking at the info you had on the latest planet we rescued." Lance explained.
"I see."
"Allura."
"Yes?"
"What would you do if...you could've saved a child but...didn't. And you know it should've been you that was..."
"Lance?" I grew concerned. He shook his head and gave me a weak smile. Even though he was smiling, the light never reached his eyes.
"I better go, this skin isn't going to remain flawless forever and I don't want wrinkles at such a young age!" And before I could even retort, he was gone.
"...Lance."

-----Lance pov

What was I thinking! Talking to the Princess like that! I scurried back to my room and quickly took refuge inside. The entire trip from the control room to my room was a big blur. I knew someone was talking to me, but I was blind as to what was being said. I snuggled up to my blankets and pulled it around myself. Don't let them know. They tried so hard to get me better, I am not going to put them through this not again, not ever.

-----Shiro pov

"Hey, Lance." I greeted, but he walked past me without even acknowledging me. I had a brief look at his face and it was...void of any emotion. It wasn't like Lance to be like that. The Lance I knew was fun and giddy. He joked and laughed. This Lance was as if he was...dead. It scared me, greatly. I don't recall ever seeing him like this. Except for a small moment a few weeks ago when he ran off when we confronted him about the small alien he saved. But it was so quick I thought I had imagined it. And since no one else brought it up, I didn't either.
I decided to follow him and loudly called out to him, hoping he'll respond back.
"Lance? You ok?" But again he didn't respond, only continuing to stalk down the hallway. I stopped in my tracks after the third try and gave up.
"Go and rest, ok?" But I bet on my life he didn't hear me.
I watched as the lean Cuban boy walked away and turned to enter his room. The door shutting behind him quietly and soon it was just me and my thoughts in the now unoccupied hallway.

I will be making a Klance book! I don't know the plot yet, but I have a few ideas! So look out for that!
Also! I have decided this book is going to have less than 20 chapters, not parts, but chapters. So far there is only 9 chapters, so we're already half way through, sadly. But I'm thinking of doing a sequel, sooooooo.
