Lights, Camera, Slut it Up!: Chapter 2: Recruited
By the end of lunch, I had learned that Cole was only a year older than me, he had a sister, and about a million other things that I honestly had no interest in. The man could talk and it didn't bother me. I'd rather talk about him than me any day. "Where's your parents?"
Last I heard, they were in the middle of a brutal divorce. With my two youngest sisters, Abigail and Janice, only being ten and twelve, they were unfortunate enough to get caught up in it. My brother Michael, being eighteen, moved into a campus dorm to escape the fighting. The girls used to stay with Liliana and I for a few months after she moved in with me, but that stopped once our father found out. Now that our parents were actually separated, they were juggled between two different houses that had no less than three states between them.
I looked back at Cole who is waiting expectantly. "I was disowned when my father found out I was partaking in the profession and I haven't talked to them since then." After living with Angel for the past four years, I was getting better at censoring my language.
"That sucks... my parents don't like it but they wouldn't disown me." That was probably because he didn't come from money or have a reputation that an entire business empire depended on. His phone began blaring and he apologized before answering it. He listened for a minute before responding, "How long do I have?" His eyebrows furrowed. "No, an hour is great." He hung up and smiled at me, the gleam in his eyes a little too suggestive.
I cocked my eyebrow, wondering what in the hell that call had been about. "What?"
"How would you like to go to Heaven's Angelz Studios for a few hours?" He wanted me to go with him to a porn shoot?
"Are you allowed to invite outsiders?" While I had done porn once, I was no longer an active participant.
He shook his head, "They're a little more relaxed here."
I looked around the small restaurant and sighed, "I guess?"
"Awesome!" He waved the waiter over so we could pay our check and we were once again back on the road. This time, however, I was following him in my own car - which had not been towed or vandalized in the nightclub parking lot.
While we were on the freeway my cell rang and I quickly accepted my sister's call. "Hey."
Liliana huffed on the other end of the line. "Have you lost your mind?" She was using her mom voice on me.
"No." I tried to contain my laugh. " – at least not that I know of."
"You didn't come home last night and you didn't even bother to frickin' text me till this morning! I was terrified that you were laying in a gutter somewhere!" I had to hold the phone away from my ear as she began screeching at me. "Where in the hell are you now?"
I glanced at Cole's car that was only a few car lengths ahead of me. "Would you settle for a lie because you wouldn't like the truth..."
"You're twenty-two Nicky. Why in the hell are you acting so immature? What about Angel?"
"What about Angel?" I mimicked. "I'm her uncle, not her father." I argued back. As much as I loved that little girl, she wasn't my responsibility. "- and like you said, I'm only twenty-two. I am acting my age."
She was silent for a moment. "I'm sorry Nicky, I was just worried." I could faintly hear her fiddling with something, "So what are you doing?"
"I'm hanging out with one of my old friends from The Studio." I took the exit as Cole did.
