Quinn searched the busy school bus for an empty seat. She glanced over the bus and saw an eager face waving at her; it was one of her best friends Megan. Megan is a mid-height average weight girl with weirdly shaped freckles and brown hair that framed her face." hi Megan is this seat taken" Quinn sarcastically imitated one of the posh kid's voices. "Of course can you not see the person sitting right next to me" she replied laughing and pointing at the empty seat. Quinn threw herself down next to Megan as the bus turned a corner into the narrow pine tree lane.
" So Quinn did you ask your grandad about coming to the cinema this Friday".

Quinn sighed and started slowly talking "yeah I did...he said I couldn't go because he already lost my dad and he didn't want to lose me as well" .

"He does realize that you only wanted to go to the cinema not go to America to live there," Megan said clearly not understanding what Quinn's grandad was thinking and she was clearly annoyed her friend wasn't allowed to go, she wasn't trying to hide the annoyance in her voice.

"I know it's not like anything is going to happen, but he's just worried and he wants to protect me".

"Yeah, it's not like you're gonna say I'll be back soon and then go off and disappear like your parents did " Megan wasn't a horrible person she just didn't think before she spoke sometimes, that was Megan's biggest flaw.

Megan gasped realizing she just stepped over the line. "Quinn I'm sorry I wasn't thinking". When Megan had said that it plunged Quinn back into the place were she pondered why her parents left her and if they were ever coming back?  Did they love her? Since they weren't going to answer she answered her own question, of course, how could they love her they left her with nothing, they left her alone.

Quinn flung forward in her seat snapping her back into reality, she and Megan walked side by side into school. You could cut the tension between them with a knife. Quinn could see Megan had been covered by guilt like ivy on a tree.

"It's okay you know. I know you didn't mean it" and with that Megan flung her arm around quinn and they broke apart from there hug before walking into school together ready for the day ahead.

The Bell pierced through Quinn's ears as it rang to signify lunch. She briskly walked down the corridor clutching her bag at her side hoping to go unnoticed. She sensed something fly by her shoulder, she knew who it was. The very person she had wanted to avoid.

A wave of anger rising up in her she turned around to see the Finchley twins Jack and Jay. Their uniforms were ragged there shirts tucked half in half out of there trousers and their uncombed ragged blond hair sat coarse and thick on their heads. They were twins, however, they were not identical.  Both had blond hair like a lions mane but Jack was taller than Jay by about an inch and jay was also stockier and his face resembled that of a french bulldog, although that may be an insult to bulldogs.

"Well hello, Quinn" Jack chuckled with a creepy grin on his face. "Fancy seeing you here. Where are all your friends" He taunted sarcastically to an uproar from his crew of misfits and bullies.

"In the canteen and that's where I'm going now so. Can't say it was nice seeing you, see ya" she replied shaking as she turned away to go, but she wasn't shaking with fear it was with anger and she knew if she stayed much longer her anger was going to erupt.

"Hey hey hey where do you think you're going," he said his teeth baring as he smiled. Jay who was the quieter of the two softly whispered: "maybe just this once let her go she didn't do anything wrong ".
However Quinn did not here jays comment, she had decided enough was enough she would taunt him; this was very unlike her.

When she spoke next it was as though she was powerful enough to stand up to an army and a streak of defiance from deep down was nagging at her, "No wonder you're friends are all fake there just like you under all that tough guy disguise there's just a scared troubled little boy".

" you don't know what you're talking about I would not torment you if I were scared of you!" He shouted, the silence hit the corridor with Immense speed and soon all eyes were on them.

Quinn walked away not letting herself get the better of her.
He shouted now utterly desperate to get the last word "Oh I know where you're going you're going to the canteen not to find your friends but to find something else .... your no good worthless parents. Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you because they ain't there, in fact, they are long gone".

Quinn froze in her tracks and she could feel her blood boiling up inside her, her heart beating 100 mph. She swung round surprising the onlooking crowd.  She charged at jack not finding the words to express her anger so she had to go for a different approach.  She pulled her right arm back and let her fist fly; she punched him right in the nose the blood coming streaming down his face and he went tumbling to the ground. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Jay laugh which confused her a lot, after all, he was supposed to be his brother and best friend.
As Quinn was about to go for another hit she felt strong, firm, soft hands wrapping around her waist electrifying her whole body, she felt so safe here but she still had to  fight her anger was willing her to, she tried to pull and fight her way towards jack but it was no use the boy pulled her in towards his chest away from any danger. There was a soft whisper in her ear "calm down it's just me". Quinn felt her body relax as she willingly walked away still in his arms.
