Never alone

Chapter 13

No whispers , no laughter, no sound.

It was almost as if there was no life force for miles , at least it would have been if it wasn't for the mesmerising glow of the fire throwing wonderful and mysterious shapes onto the ancient stone walls.
There was no wind and the corner just seemed to loom nearer and nearer.

Taking deep breaths they all stepped out round the corner as one united front.

Gasps echoed throughout the place bouncing of the cave walls.

Small green creatures with pulled back shiny black hair stood huddled between two elegantly dressed men with golden chained necklaces rapped around their necks . Their ears so pulled back and pointy that if you even brushed your hand over the tip it would most likely draw a crimson drop of blood from your body.

What was happening ? It was just like the woman had said , but how could this be true . How could it be , this was not normal. Although everyone knew that Quinn and her friends where not normal. Everyone said that the expression of you've got a screw loose  did not apply to them because people said that they had no more screws left to be loose.

This was unbelievably unreal, even though  they all hoped in their hearts that these kinds of people and creatures existed. Well here they are .

The outskirts of the cave where filled with creatures of all manner fairy's , banshees and even the incredibly rare and majestic species of the unicorn. It was the most odd group of animals she had ever seen . They didn't snarl or grit there teeth but rather they just smiled and  cheered , shouting we are saved they have come to save us. Finally they have come.

Passionate smiles and grateful eyes all rested onto them. Never in there life's had they expected to see such a warm and pure of heart atmosphere. Eyes like rubys looked us up and down shining In the caves light. Curious breath of words aroused from the muddled crowd.

It wasn't like when a normal person stairs at you and you have to look at them to notice that they are staring, no it was rather different. In fact the intensity of the heated eyes was almost to much to bare.

Suddenly the whispers seized to exist. All of creatures alike in happiness, stepped backwards and bowed there heads . They made a sort of pathway which seemed to make the cave look bigger than before. Leaning down to what seemed like a young elf , quinn layer her hand on his shoulder and said " why are you bowing?" Quinn couldn't have just said it's ok you can get up , no she had to be direct.

The elf gasped as his eyes widened more than humanly possible "y..y..you.spoke to me?" when he spoke it came out more like a question than a statement and with saying these words he fell to the floor like a folding chair while others behind him struggled under his weight.

A cheeky green figure struggling underneath the crumpled elf  as if he where a boulder mouthed the word "help" just before the weight became to much and the elf flattened the goblin underneath him.

All the girls scrambled forward to pick up the elf . Quinn and Megan both grabbed one arm of the elves and tugged just slightly so Jane could swoop in and save the helpless goblin that could have been smothered by a knocked out elf.

The goblin clasped it's arms around Jane tightly , as if he was still afraid but thankful for Janes help.

"Hey, it's ok . It was just an accident " 

The goblins eyes lit up while a heart warming smile spread across his face, his smile was almost infectious .

Quinn could sense the warm feeling cooking up Inside her and her cheeks crumpled as she smiled.

When the goblin realised he was hugging onto jane he jumped away quickly back to the floor.

"Tough guy huh?"Quinn laughed , but Jane did not her expression was unreadable .

Oh no it was happening again. The ominous glowing on her face to Quinn's suprise all of the creatures gasped . Quinns eyes widened to the size of tennis balls.

Holy mother of cheese. They could see it to?

All this time Quinn thought she was the only one who could see it , she thought there was no one else . How peculiar that the first people to see what she saw ,were here and even more peculiar was that they were of a different race. She'd always hoped she would find someone that could see it too,  but now was not the time .

Quinn pleadingly stared out onto the magical folk , vigorously shaking her head the frightened faces on the creatures turned into curiousness . They all turned to one another secretly Whispering away from human ears.

The goblin who had almost been smothered to death by the knocked out elf , started staring back and forth from Quinn to Jane and then back to the creatures around him.

The goblin whispered quite loudly to the other  goblins around him
" I'm just going to ask her . Maybe she's the one.".

Another goblin with a withered face that resembled a white faded leather  hand bag shook his head  and with it all the saggy fat skin on his face shook with it. He talked out clearly not caring if they knew anymore

" flint no you can't!!! We don't even know if they are the ones!!".

Quinn assumed that the younger goblin was called flint but what was the bag faced one talking about . What did he mean by the ones?

Flint skipped over to Quinn trying to keep away from the cruel grabbing hands of the old goblin but unlucky for flint the old goblin grabbed flints feet mid air and dragged him backwards.

Quinn didn't want to get involved but what was she supposed to do . She whipped into action scraping the old goblins clutching tight hands of off flint. Quinn pulled flint into safety while the old goblin stared on in astonishment , " stay over there!" Quinn commanded she didn't think that flints mouth could drop anymore but when the old goblin obeyed Quinns command flints mouth dropped to the floor.

"How can you guys see it too?"   whispered Quinn to flint .

"How can we see them , how can you see them !?"  Flint replied curiosly.

Quinn looked at flint for a minute "I've been able to see it since I was little and It gets brighter with every........ " Full moon" interupted flint . There was no way that this was not  normal and there was now no doubt in Quinns mind that this was where she belonged.
