I look up to the sky after my devastating flashback, and notice that it's getting lighter. I should get back to Ellie so she doesn't worry. She was always just that kind of person. I turn around and I'm about head back when I hear the scream.
HELP!
You just can't ignore a scream like that during the apocalypse.
I run in the direction of where I heard the voice. It leads me to an alley where there are three men beating on a girl around my age. "Someone! Please help me!" She cries. I load my bow and whistle to redirect their attention. There are various shouts of "Hey!" and "Get back here!" as I run a short distance before I sink an arrow into one of their faces. I then realize I should've taken out the guy with the gun first.
BANG!
I hear the gunshot before I realize where it goes. It seems as if the bullet whizzes past my head in slow motion. I hear a ringing noise and feel warm liquid dripping from my right ear. I can't hear out of it anymore. I quickly reload my bow and take out the guy who shot me, only to discover that two of them had guns. Another gunshot causes me to drop my bow. A burning sensation starts in my arm and spreads. I cry out in pain and frustration because I know I'm as good as dead. The pain becomes so unbearable that I sink to my knees on the ground. I wait for the gunshot that will end this hell, but it never comes. I writhe on the ground in pain for a bit before it gradually fades away. When I finally open my eyes, I see the blue-haired girl standing in front of me with her arm extended. It dawns on me that she wants to help me up. I take her hand and get back on my feet.
"Thanks," I smile.
"No problem. You saved my life, it's the least I could do to help you up," she replies, returning the smile. I decide to head "home", and she follows.
**
"So, what's your name?" I ask the stranger.
"Ella," she answers, "yours?"
"Kira," I tell her. I mentally debate whether or not it was a smart idea to take the virtual stranger back to where Ellie and I had set up our temporary little camp. Hopefully Ellie won't mind. She's always been wary of strangers, which is a good instinct during the apocalypse, as most people are out to kill you. I notice that Ella is limping slightly. One glance at her leg tells me why. From her knee down, her leg is twisted 90 degrees. I think about asking her what happened.
Nah, my subconscious tells me, no need to make her relive whatever trauma happened.
I guess she noticed.
"It's okay, y'know. It's not like it was a horrible, life-scarring incident or anything. I just broke it running away from a herd, and it never healed quite right," she informs.
"Oh," is all I can think to say.
We finally arrive at the temporary home Ellie and I had found. We arrive to find Ellie pacing back and forth in the living room. She looks up and sees me, a look of relief crosses over her face for a brief moment, replaced by terror a second later. I raise an eyebrow questioningly. Ella wasn't all that scary looking.
I then turned around and noticed the pack of about 50 infected headed our way.
I guess we hadn't realized just how temporary this house would be.

So I finished my rewrite of chapter 2. Hope y'all like it better than the first time around :)
I sure feel like I did a better job, but maybe I didn't!
QOTC: Should Kira and the original cast of characters meet up with Rick's group? Or maybe even come across Woodbury?
If they find Rick, I refuse to kill off Amy. I just won't do it. YOU CANT MAKE ME.
